i just sling a few stones at them to make them drop the horns otherwise i feel really bad for them. poor little things!

as of the release of iceborne, you can now ride kelbi as well as other herbivores

The weapon doesnt really matter. just bash them in the head and you should get a horn out of it

Get a Sword & Shield. Using the shield bash combo assures that their horns come off on the 2nd hit. Sometimes it comes on the 1st. They usually get stunned after, then get up and run away.

if you want to get the horns, get rocks and shoot them in the head 6 times to break off the horn, no need to kill them.
