Earplugs is a Skill in Monster Hunter World (MHW).
Earplugs Effect
Earplugs is increased in level based on the amount of Equipment with this skill the hunter is using. Each level works as follows:
Level 1: Slightly reduces the effects of weak monster roars- Level 2: Reduces the effects of weak monster roars
- Level 3: Nullifies weak monster roars
- Level 4: Nullifies weak monster roars and reduces the effects of strong monster roars
- Level 5: Nullifies weak and strong monster roars
Earplugs is also a Status Effect provided by Coral Orchestra or Hunting Horn:
Earplugs (S): Nullifies weak monster roars
Earplugs (L): Nullifies weak and strong monster roars
Earplug Roar and level by Monster

Well you are going to need lvl 4 anyway, for instance, while you are fighting an anjanath a nargacuga can come in just to say HAAAA!!! and BAAAA!!! it will do it a few times during the anjanath fight and if you don't have earplugs it can easily be a reason that gets you carted.... I speak from experience since it happened to me :/

Safe to assume Furious Rajang and Raging Brachidyos are level 4 and 5 Earplugs? Leshen and Ancient Leshen?

"Equipment that grants Earplugs: Weapons = None." While I assume they mean Earplugs (Skill), rather than the 'Earplugs' effect, it *is* worth noting that some hunting horns can provide protection against monster roars.

PLEASE UPDATE FOR ICEBORNE: Beotodus and Banbaro have a Weak Roar. All other new monsters have a Strong Roar. Variations, such as Viper Tobi-Kodachi, have the same roar as before. Tigrex's roar is not fully stopped with Earplugs 5, as it has a short-range damage and knockback effect in addition to the actual sound.

An absolute godsend when using HBG's sustained fire. Outside of that though most weapons can block/evade through the majority of roars.

The level 3 on the gem refers to the kind of slot it takes, not to the level of the skill. Gems always give you 1 point in a skill, but it can require different slot levels (1, 2 or 3).

Put a lvl 3 earplg gem on a bazel helm but im still only lvl3? I dont get it. Shoukd be lvl5 right?
