Team up & Hunt

Monster Hunter: World sees players gear up to venture on quests to battle against fearsome monsters, progressively improving their hunting abilities as they play. Loot collected from fallen foes can be used to create new equipment and armor upgrades as players seamlessly move across map areas that comprise the living ecosystems. The landscape and its diverse inhabitants play a critical role as players strategically use the surrounding environment to their advantage. Hunters must use their cunning and abilities to survive the intense and evolving fights as they battle to become the ultimate hunter!.

Monster Hunter Lore

In the world of MH you belong to the Guild an organization dedicated to the equilibrium between humans and the planet, their main objective is to minimize the damage to the ecosystem and avoid the extinction of monsters and such. In this entry to the series you will be visiting the New World, though its existence was known for a long time, the New World remained unexplored because of how far away it was, and because of the dangerous weather surrounding it. With the mysterious phenomenon of Elder Dragons migrating to the New World(called the Elder Crossing) and advances in seafaring technology, the Commission (a detachment of elite members of the Guild. Included in their number are hunters, scholars, and engineers, all of whom were required to pass rigorous tests before they could join.) was able to land five fleets on the New World.

MH World Features

  • Welcome to the new World: Taking on the role of a hunter, players are tasked with going on a research expedition to a newly discovered continent known only as “new world” as they venture on quests to discover more about this mysterious land.
  • Living and breathing ecosystem: Utilize the surrounding environment and wildlife to your advantage. For example, pit Monsters against one another to lure the main target creature to the right place, but be careful not to become hindered by the hazards they present.
  • Global simultaneous release: For the first time in the Monster Hunter series the latest title will release within the same launch window and unite hunters across the world with cross-region cooperative play options.
  • Online drop-in Multiplayer: When the battle is too daunting to take on single-handedly, hail up to three other hunters to assist during quests by sending up a SOS flare to a worldwide server full of potential teammates.
  • Hunt to craft new gear: Defeat monsters and collect loot from fallen foes to craft Armor and Weapons styled after the monsters that have been slain. Selecting the right loadout can help exploit enemy weaknesses to gain an advantage in battle.
  • Master the beasts: A variety of ferocious creatures inhabit the new world landscape including the series mainstay Rathalos and the all new Anjanath. Players can mount the monsters with the dynamic riding mechanic, allowing them to travel along the monster’s body and deliver locational damage.
  • Seamless gameplay: Players and monsters can move from one map Location to another freely and without loading screens whilst gameplay also dynamically transitions between night and day.

Everything About Monster Hunter World

Monster Hunter World, developed and published by Capcom, has emerged as a pinnacle in the action role-playing genre, captivating gamers worldwide with its immersive gameplay, breathtaking landscapes, and formidable creatures. Released in 2018, this installment in the Monster Hunter series introduces a plethora of new features that redefine the gaming experience. Let's delve into the key features that make Monster Hunter World a must-play for both seasoned hunters and newcomers alike.

Open World Exploration

Monster Hunter World breaks away from the series' traditional segmented maps, offering players a seamless and expansive open world to explore. The environments are richly detailed and interconnected, providing a sense of continuity as players traverse various ecosystems, from lush forests to barren deserts.

Explore New Ecosystems

The game introduces a diverse range of ecosystems, each housing a unique array of flora and fauna. This diversity isn't just for aesthetic purposes; it plays a crucial role in the game's ecosystem dynamics. Monsters interact with one another, creating a realistic food chain where predators hunt prey, and the environment itself becomes a vital aspect of the gameplay.

Living Breathing Worlds

The monsters in Monster Hunter World exhibit realistic behaviors, making the world feel alive. Monsters have their territories, migration patterns, and daily routines. This adds an extra layer of strategy as players must study their prey, adapting their approach based on the time of day, weather conditions, and the monsters' habits.

Hunting and Combat

The core of Monster Hunter World revolves around hunting gigantic monsters. Players assume the role of a hunter, customizing their appearance, weapons, and armor. The combat system is deep and rewarding, requiring skillful timing, precision, and knowledge of each monster's attack patterns. With a wide array of weapon types to choose from, players can find a playstyle that suits them, whether it's the agile dual blades, the heavy-hitting greatsword, or the versatile bow.

Multiplayer Cooperative Gameplay

Monster Hunter World emphasizes cooperative play, allowing up to four players to team up and hunt monsters together. The seamless drop-in, drop-out multiplayer functionality ensures a smooth transition between solo and cooperative play. Players can strategize, share resources, and take down the most formidable creatures as a united team.

Crafting and Upgrading

The game features an extensive crafting system, where materials obtained from hunted monsters are used to craft and upgrade weapons, armor, and items. The progression system is rewarding, encouraging players to hunt stronger monsters to acquire rare materials for more powerful gear.

Story-driven Narrative

Unlike previous Monster Hunter titles, Monster Hunter World introduces a more engaging narrative. Players embark on a journey to uncover the mysteries of the New World, discovering the history behind the Elder Dragons and the ecological shifts that have drawn them to this untamed land.

Regular Updates and Events

Capcom has consistently supported Monster Hunter World with free updates and events, introducing new monsters, quests, and collaborations. This ongoing support keeps the game fresh and encourages players to return for new challenges and rewards.

 Monster Hunter World Gameplay

The Hunt

Discovering the whereabouts of any monster begins with locating its trail. Employing the scoutflies is crucial in this process. Initiate by scanning the surroundings for footprints or other traces left behind by the monster. Upon interacting with these signs, the scoutflies will catch the scent and guide you towards more recent tracks. As you accumulate enough of these, the scoutflies will advance to a higher level, ultimately guiding you to the monster's exact location. A caveat to this method is the scoutflies' relatively slow pace; should you move faster than a jogging pace, you risk outpacing them and will need to pause and wait for them to catch up.

Monster Weaknesses

Every monster has a weak spot. The usual suspect is the head, but a monster's weak spot can be anything from its wings, to its tail or even the inside of its mouth! When you hit a monster, and the numbers are orange, that means you are hitting a weak spot. On the flipside, if you hit a monster and purple numbers appear, it means you are hitting a part resistant to damage. Remember which parts are tough and which are soft and plan your attacks accordingly. Note: It's best to use a non-elemental weapon when testing for a weak spot as the element might give orange/purple numbers even if you hit a weak/tough spot.

Every monster is also weak to one of the five elements. However, what element a monster is weak to might not be apparent or even be counter intuitive. For example, the fire breathing Rathalos is weak to the dragon element, and not water as you would assume. When experimenting to find out a monster's weakness purple damage numbers mean it resists the element, white numbers means it has neutral relationship to that element, and orange means it's weak. Another way to check is to look at the elemental resistances on the armor that you can make from the monster. Often, it will mirror the monster's own resistances.

Slinger

Your slinger is a versatile tool that will help you in a number of ways. Depending on what you load into it, it can provide decent ranged attack should the monster just be out of reach. Projectiles can inflict poison, paralysis or even stun monsters. The other major use for the slinger is mobility. It comes with a grappling hook which you can use to pull yourself around the map with. This allows you to evade monster attacks, catch up to fleeing monsters quickly, perform jumping attack easier, and traverse the map. It also helps with mounting monsters, which is covered in the advanced tips below.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the highly anticipated expansion to Capcom's critically acclaimed Monster Hunter World, takes hunters on an exhilarating journey to a frosty new locale with a plethora of new challenges and features. Released in 2019, Iceborne builds upon the solid foundation of the base game, introducing exciting elements that enhance the overall gaming experience.

Hoarfrost Reach

The expansion introduces a vast and frozen region known as Hoarfrost Reach. This snow-covered expanse is home to new and returning Monsters, providing a fresh and visually stunning environment for hunters to explore. The addition of Hoarfrost Reach brings a dynamic range of landscapes, from icy tundras to subterranean caves, adding a layer of complexity to the hunt.

New Monsters

This new tier of difficulty comes with upgraded movesets and increased aggression, demanding advanced strategies and skillful execution. Clutch Claw

The Clutch Claw is a versatile new tool that adds a layer of complexity to monster encounters. This mechanic opens up new opportunities for strategic play, such as redirecting monsters, creating openings for attacks, and softening armored areas for increased damage.

New Weapon Movesets

These additions not only provide increased depth for seasoned players but also offer exciting options for newcomers to the series. Experimenting with the expanded movesets adds an extra layer of excitement to the hunt.

Environmental Effects

Hoarfrost Reach introduces dynamic environmental effects that impact both hunters and monsters. Extreme cold temperatures can affect stamina and health, requiring players to come prepared with hot drinks and layered armor sets. Iceborne encourages strategic preparation and adaptability as hunters face the challenges of the harsh, frigid landscape.

Seliana Gathering Hub

Iceborne introduces a new centralized hub called Seliana, providing hunters with a convenient location to access various facilities, manage gear, and interact with other players. The hub design is more streamlined, offering a cohesive and visually appealing space for multiplayer interactions.

Steamworks Minigame

Seliana features the Steamworks minigame, offering a fun and rewarding way for players to obtain valuable items. By stoking the Steamworks furnace, hunters can earn various rewards, including ConsumablesDecorations, and even rare monster Materials.

It's weird. If I reuse a single jewel in two sets I get a warning that it is already used. Okay. But whenever I load one of them the jewels are still all there. Even the unique jewel is displayed in both sets. BUT not always. And that's what I don't understand. I started to detect "holes" in my sets. Jewels are vanishing, jewels I use in multiple sets. So why does it work ALMOST always? And not always? What's the criterium here? What jewel is "virtual" and what jewel cannot be devided between sets?

                                      I wanna know:

I saw a beautiful turf war I wish I recorded:
Savage Deviljho vs. Black Diablos vs. Brute Tigrex

Description: Savage Deviljho charged Black Diablos. Black Diablos made a hip check to dodge it but accidentally hit a brute tigrex. Savage deviljho is flailing its fat head attempting to bite black diablos. Brute tigrex tries to make a jump on black diablos but instead hits savage deviljho. Black diablos is circling the savage deviljho, who is smacking the brute tigrex into the ground. It makes a huge charge into the savage deviljho's belly and knocks it head over heels. Savage deviljho now spraying dragon energy like a madman, gets up and makes an ear splitting roar. Black diablos is roaring back, but gets interrupted by the brute tigrex, and flips the brute tigrex at the charging savage deviljho, and both the brute tigrex AND savage deviljho lose the turf war.

                                      Not making this up.
And that tells you not to mess with a black diablos.

I feel like not a lot of people use Insect Glaives, but for various reasons everyone uses bows or switch axes. I use Insect Glaives because they are fast and also kinsects can help me to extract from monsters but the vaulting is the best part because I can easily mount monsters. But I still use a bow because the defender glaive and defender powerbow are strong if you know how to use them and when you kill anjanath you can upgrade them, but op is oK.

Monster Hunter Riders and Monster Hunter Stories 2 were both just revealed for the Switch...

RIP people who can't afford a Switch.

I don't know if this is right, but most of the wiki pages (on weapons) only have controller inputs (for combos), isn't there a way to place all inputs (1st PC, 2nd PS4, 3rd Xbox, etc)

I feel like most pages can be improved to some degree. Wiki page for maps can have pictures of every altitude level with every camp location etc instead of having multiple pages and just searching endlessly

Most weapons tree don't even have the crafting recipes and just have "crafting with metal" (or something close to that) which is super annoying cause you have to do extra reaserch (take in mind that this is the wiki page)

Ok, now here's the good part. I appreciate that most of the pages have details and most of the armor sets are actually showed if you hover over their names (on the monster page) and shows every buff, restistance etc... Very good job on that

Very good, but the wiki needs some updates and some polishing

A chest would be really nice where all my characters have access too and can exchange items, gems and zenny with one another.

You didn't miss anything if you let the game rest for a month except ofc for a festivity. Now it's stress nonstop cut out for the diebetic gaming zombies without a RL. I think I will finish the next 2 builds and my long time projects and then let the game rest for a half a year. 1000h of playtime in 2 month are enough in my book.
