Streamstone Shard is a Material type of Item in Monster Hunter World (MHW). These useful parts are gathered and collected by Hunters in order to improve their Equipment and performance out in the field.
A rare stone taken from a tempered monster. The longer a beast's reign of terror, the larger the shard.
How to Acquire Streamstone Shard
This material can be obtained by completing Investigations for Tempered Monsters - Threat Level 1. After the Land of Convergence Story Quest, Hunters may find tracks of Tempered Monsters while on Expeditions to unlock these Investigations at the Resource Center.

Streamstone Shard Usage
Streamstone Shards, along with Streamstones and Gleaming Streamstones, are required to Augment and Upgrade both Weapons and Armor.
Additionally, Streamstone Shards are required to meld Decorations into new ones with the Spire Sorcery ritual at the Elder Melder.

That's not right. I am at seven star assignments and not done that quest, yet I have found and fought already threat level 1 tempered monsters.
