Kulve Taroth is a Large Monster in Monster Hunter World (MHW) that is only found in the Kulve Taroth Siege event quests in the Gathering Hub. It is an Elder Dragon. マム・タロト  in Japanese. Kulve Taroth, a colossal Elder Dragon. Known for its golden-scaled hide and majestic appearance, Kulve Taroth is a living embodiment of opulence and grandeur. Hunters engage in epic sieges, attempting to uncover and plunder the golden treasures adorning its body. As the pursuit unfolds, hunters must contend with Kulve Taroth's formidable fiery attacks, requiring both strategic coordination and precise targeting to claim the riches hidden within its shimmering, gilded armor.

An Elder Dragon that protects itself with a glittering coat of metal. Its ecology and coat differ with each appearance, thus the need for a thorough investigation. An exhaustive investigation is required in order to break Kulve Taroth's giant gold plated horns. Pursue the monster to learn more about it. Gather tracks and recruit hunters to help you further your investigation

Kulve Taroth Details & Locations

Master Rank Kulve Taroth's event quest, The Eternal Gold Rush, is different from the siege quest:

1. It can be found under Event Quests - this quest can be found under event quests and not as a special investigation in the Gathering Hub. You cannot take on this quest outside of the set times.

2. Objective: Slay Kulve Taroth - The objective of the quest is to slay Kulve Taroth before it escapes. During this quest, the red icon that appears in the minimap shows if it's enraged or not.

3. No pursuit Levels or Reward Levels - the quest does not contain pursuit levels or reward levels, so progress does not carry over to the next quest. Any progress made on the Kulve Taroth Siege itself will not be affected by this event quest.

4. SOS available - During the quest, you can fire SOS flares. MR KT scales with multiplayer, unlike her base game counterpart.

5. User Materials to Upgrade Appraisal Weapons: Materials obtained are used to upgrade appraisal weapons. While you cannot obtain weapons directly from master rank Kulve Taroth, you use its materials to upgrade any appraisal weapons you already possess.

Tips for MR Kulve Taroth

  • Ranged weapons are a lot easier to manage
  • Use Thunder element for Gold plated phase, then Ice element afterward
  • Use Partbreaker skill
  • Bring Wide-Range or group healing items
  • Use your clutch claw to weaken the chest during phase 1
  • Use your slinger clutch attacks to throw her into walls
  • Use Slinger Capacity or have another hunter ready to get off a second slam during her idle non-enraged state after an initial slam.
  • Weaken chest as first priority upon entering (and arms if possible) then slam; chest break on first slam and arm break on second if weaken.
  • Since a large portion of her damage is Fire Based, the Fireproof Mantle is a really good tool to use.
  • Avoid trying to block her standing downward punch and leaping body slam because they drain >150 stamina with Guard 5. Lance's power guard does not drain stamina on impact and thus should be the only weapon to attempt to guard these moves.
  • The gold that falls off of the ceiling after she climbs the center spire cannot blocked, even with Guard Up.
  • Kulve Taroth's retreat timer will only start to count upon engaging in battle so if you're firing an SOS, it is wise to wait for other hunters before fighting it.

Kulve Taroth Combat Info

  • Kulve Taroth is weak to mhw thunder damage sThunder Element when gold-plated. The weakness swaps to mhw ice damage sIce Element when the gold-plating is lost.
  • The weakest spot is the gold plating on its head unless you are using ammo damage, in which case shoot the forelegs.
  • It is only mildly susceptible to all abnormal status effects
  • Kinsect Extract:
    • Red: head
    • Orange: tail/body/chest
    • White: shoulders/claws

For parts

  • Part Breaker
    • Deals 10%, 20%, and 30% more damage for rank 1, 2, and 3 respectively

For faster transporting

  • Pro Transporter
    • Increases movement speed while transporting and reduces downtime on landings.  (Level 1)
    • Lets you move cannonballs faster.

For the heat

For cannons

  • Heavy Artillery
    • Increases the firepower of ballistae and cannons
    • Deals 10% and 20%more damage for rank 1, and 2 respectively

OBJECTIVE
Break the horns! Kulve Taroth has four stages.
Stage one you just need to do enough damage to stop her from retreating, easily done with cannons, falling boulders, and/or attacking her.
Stage two break 6 pieces of her gold plating.
Stage three break her gold plating, more easy than stage two if you can get her to sit on the erupting volcanoes and keep her put by using the falling boulders.
Stage four, break her horns! All damage not towards the horns are a waste, with the exception of arms (force a trip so you can attack her horns)

Other Notes To Keep In Mind
Horn Chip Base = 4080
Horn Break = 16800
Then Pursuit levels 1-6 have multipliers of 200%, 100%, 66.6667, 40%, 33.3333%, and pursuit level 6 with a 25%
This is why as the pursuit level increases, it is easier to break her horns.

MHW Kulve Taroth Attack and Moveset

Kulve Taroth can perform the following attacks:

  • Golden Breath: Kulve Taroth breathes a stream of golden fire in front of it, covering a wide area. Hunters need to evade or block effectively to avoid taking significant fire damage.
  • Rolling Body Slam: Kulve Taroth performs a powerful rolling body slam, creating a shockwave on impact. Hunters must anticipate the trajectory and evade to the side to avoid being hit.
  • Horn Swipe Combo: Kulve Taroth swipes its massive horns in a series of attacks. This combo can cover a considerable area, requiring precise dodges to avoid getting hit by the sweeping horn strikes.
  • Golden Charge: Kulve Taroth charges at hunters with remarkable speed, attempting to trample them under its massive form. Evading or using terrain effectively is crucial to avoid getting hit by this charging attack.
  • Tail Swipe: Kulve Taroth swings its tail in a sweeping motion, creating a wide arc of attack. Hunters need to time their dodges to avoid the tail swipe and prevent being knocked back.
  • Golden Breath Sweep: Kulve Taroth releases a sweeping breath attack, covering a large area in front of it. Hunters must position themselves strategically to avoid the wide-reaching golden fire.
  • Rearing Slam: Kulve Taroth rears up on its hind legs and slams down with immense force, creating a shockwave. Evading the impact area is crucial to avoid taking damage from this powerful slam.
  • Horn Thrust Combo: Kulve Taroth thrusts its horns forward in a series of attacks. The rapid horn thrusts cover a significant area and demand precise dodges or well-timed blocks to avoid taking damage.
  • Golden Nova: When Kulve Taroth's golden coat is released during the final phase of the siege, it can unleash a devastating golden nova. Hunters must find cover or use environmental elements to avoid the massive explosion.
  • Molten Gold Eruption: In the final phase, Kulve Taroth can cause molten gold to erupt from the ground, creating hazardous zones. Hunters need to be vigilant and avoid these areas to prevent taking damage over time.

Kulve Taroth Weapons & Armor

Armor and Weapons related to the Kulve Taroth Monster.

Kulve Taroth Weapons

This collection of weapons can only be obtained through the 'The Fury of El Dorado' event. They cannot be upgraded.

Master Rank players can participate in the MR Event Quest: The Eternal Gold Rush and unlock Kulve Taroth + materials.

  • You can now upgrade appraisal weapons at the Smithy, simply navigate to the Upgrade Equipment menu and select which appraisal weapon you want to upgrade. Master Rank Kulve Taroth materials are required to upgrade appraisal weapons. Use these materials to store upgrade points and raise the weapon's level to make it stronger.
  • MR Materials
  • Each Level of upgrades to an appraisal weapon requires 50 points (Kjárr) or 40 points (Others). The first upgrade increases its rarity to 10 (Rarity 6 weapons), 11 (Rarity 7 weapons) or 12 (Rarity 8 weapons), fills the sharpness bar, as well as granting a +20 Defense increase.
  • Each Level upgrade (including the first) adds 20 true raw and 30 element (or status) to the weapon.
  • In total, to max out a weapon, 200 points (Kjárr) or 160 points (Rarity 7 and 8 Taroth) are required.
  • When leveling up appraisal weapons, high rank upgrade is unlocked, but if you raise the level to its limit, you'll be able to do master rank upgrades to the weapons.
  • Melding Appraisal Weapons: A new option has been added to Awakening Alchemy that allows you to meld appraisal weapons. Use materials obtained from Kulve Taroth to meld and create these weapons.
    • 1 Kulve Alchemy: Allows you to create Sublimated Weapons (can drop all possible Kulve Weapons)
    • 2. Kjarr Alchemy: Allows you to create Incandescent Weapons (can only drop Rarity 8 Kulve and Kjárr weapons)

Notes & Trivia

  • The Kulve Taroth's basic design philosophy is based on the Greek myth of the Ram with the golden fleece.
  • Kulve Taroth cannot be slain in the siege quest, just repelled. You can only get materials from dropped items, its horns, and the gold that covers them. In master rank however, there is a quest where the objective is to slay her, and there are no pursuit levels or reward levels in that quest, and breaking her horns will not end that quest either.
  • Kulve Taroth is known as the "Glorious Dragon."
  • "El Dorado" Refers to the legendary City/country of Gold the Spanish hoped to find in South America
  • It also refers to a different legend, that describes the leader of the Musica, a native American tribe, coat itself in Gold dust to later wa***** of in a lake to honour the gods.
  • Both of these legends definitely inspired the Design of Kulve Taroth, as she is fought inside vast caverns filled with gold and coats itself with gold for her own protection.
  • Kulve Taroth debuted in Monster Hunter World.

since this shitty wiki wont tell you literally anywhere, you need to find kulve tarroth tracks during an expedition when shes in rotation to unlock her fight.

Have yet to find a group that can get through the MR fight. I haven't been carted once by her yet but can't complete the quest due to other people carting constantly.

I want to kill that golden poop with bow (and without a broken fatalis set) but man, this is really awfull.

I absolutely loved this multi-stage fight and just voted Kulve Taroth as my top pick/favorite Monster of the franchise. I hope CAPCOM does more events/fights like these, the weapon drop RNG might have been a bit dull. But I loved doing the Kulve Taroth siege over and over again, switching loadouts between phases, with that last phase in the smaller arena. Simply epic.

To those who are struggling with master rank kulve taroth, here is how I dealt with her.
I got a full Safi set with the Safi boltshot and frostshot both augmented at 1 elemental capacity and the rest attack augments I also have attack skill 6, evade extender 3 and agitator 5.(depending on the weapon I also have lightning attack 6 for boltshot and ice attack 6 for frostshot).
Even though she has bad elemental hit zones you can still kill it with the two weapons that I have mentioned in this post.

For the first phase use the boltshot soften the chest then wall bang it(you can wall bang it twice in a row before it gets enraged) doing this will give you a better elemental hit zone.

For her second phase use the frostshot and start with a wall bang or 2 then try and drop the cave stag on it's head then just shoot it till it goes to the third stage.

For the third stage continue with the frostshot and start with a wall bang or 2, then just shoot her.

Positioning yourself when using the lbg is the key to Winning this fight. Use it right and it should out damage a meta sticky build for the MASTER kulve fight. I hope this helps, peace out.

So all you need to do is find one of the tracks and you can instantly unlock her correct? Tell me if I am wrong or I am just being an idiot

                • Anonymous

Use SA ZSD strat and the ticks on my comfort burst build do almost twice the damage than on my full ice EXTRME optimized Legiana Kjarr build. (on her naked body form ofc). Any ideas why? Isn't ice her weakness? Why does it not at least do the same damage as on my half as*sed burst build?

                  • Anonymous

looks like great jagras, walks like great jagras, some of her moves are similar to great jagras plus mr kulve armor gives free meal secret. co-incidence? i dont think so.

Kulve confuses me a lot, rn, I can only do AT KT for some reason? I don't know where the regular one has gone. It also feels like she's incredibly tough, almost like I need to do something else after Xeno to have a chance agains her. As of now, I've only tried her on my own, and I feel like I need to get a party, but I'm afraid to join a random lobby because I really don't know what I'm doing and feel like I'd weigh them down.

                      • Anonymous

I'm playing without iceborne, can I take all the weapon or I will be able to take all after iceborne? I did the quest "the fury of El dorado", many times but nothing, she won't give me kjarr sword decay. Can anyone answer me pls, I would be very grateful.

                        • Anonymous

Well I am waiting for her to be back so i can get more parts so I can meld more of her weapons because I really need some Kjar Ice Insect glaive or maybe a fire for Alatreon so I hope I'll get it.

                          • Anonymous

Newish player here, I know that other AT elder dragons are one-shotting machines and a pain to deal with, is that true with Kulve? I just want to know what I'm getting into here

                            • Ice should be her weakness but I deal almost twice the damage with my Safi Blast SA survival build (!) as with my Legiana Kjarr SA on a full frost build. How???

                              • Anonymous

GOD her master rank armor looks SO F*ING GORGEOUS!! I don't care the least bit what i have to do for it (except installing mods) but PLEASE for the love of god I want them as layered armor.

I never really farm base world KT is it better to farm master rank and meld weapons or complete high rank sieges, what would be more efficient?

                                    • How are upgraded Kulve weapons "the new meta" if Safi weapons with Velkhana secret have 1. higher attack 2. with elemental upgrades same elemental damage and 3. better sharpness (white instead of blue)? What do I miss here?

                                      • Anonymous

In the MR version during the start of the fight, go for the head. A lot of people don't seem to realize you can still shatter the gold plating before she sheds her coat. If you manage to do so, you get some extra carves so help soften up that head if your team is trying to break it.

                                        • Anonymous

“You have 50 minutes to slay her” my ass... I understand that for the siege in high rank you have a very limited amount of time that will increase the more damage you do but seriously. In a normal event quest with a 50 minute timer you only have 21 minutes at most to slay her. I f*cking love her in master rank but that stupid mechanic is litterally the ONLY. THING. that they SHOULD have left out. I’m fine with those high damage numbers, I’m happy with those cool new changes to the fight. But if you’re gonna make the quest SO F*CKING TIGHT, at least don’t tell me I got all the time in the world to finish this quest.

                                          • Anonymous

i absolutely HATE it when her coat is almost broken and we just need to break one more piece and she F**KING DIGS UNDERGROUND AND REGENERATES IT.

                                            • Some quick information/tips to help you tremendously in the MR fight: 1. Tenderize front legs and chest before you flinch shot her in the first area, this deals huge part damage and additional raw damage as well (if you are quick at tenderizing and do it correctly, you can double flinch shot her at the start and break chest and both front legs) 2. Try and see if you can drop the stalactite in area 2 in a way that makes her fall an the lava geyser, preferably right before it explodes, for some juicy damage. 3. This is a tip that originated waay back when KT was first released, and it got a bit more known with Safi: Wait with mounting until the 3rd area, that is by far the most dps hungry phase, so mount her and break her horn there for a large chunk of extra time. PS: The time you have to do the quest is 50 minutes, but she is constantly trying to leave, and you have to break parts and deal damage to make her stop her retreat. If you find her leaving often, just remember to bring part breaker and focus on parts that are not yet broken.

                                              • Anonymous

Noticed something when I was augmenting one of my kulve weapons. When a kulve weapon is upgraded using the MR materials, it becomes eligible for the unique custom augments as well as regular augments. so their power is actually a bit higher than it might initially seem. Gonna have to play around with it and see just how much it helps though

                                                • Anonymous

I unlocked KT on High Rank, but now whenever I try to do the siege KT in Arch Tempered. Is there any way to fix this?

                                                  • Anonymous

Guys please stop being directly in front of her, so many people are carting to that lava breath because they're right in the center of it. The range of that attack is much much shorter on the sides, it's like a rectangle

                                                    • Anonymous

She's really holding a grudge about the whole horn thing. In the fight she has a very fast head slam while still wearing the mantle, Don't stand in front of her if you can avoid it. Without her mantle she gains a new sweeping heat beam that leaves fire zones at a certain distance. In her final phase if she starts steaming she is about to jump for a massively damaging attack. Overall, she is much faster and more aggressive than in the siege, proceed with utmost caution but remember, she CAN escape still if you don't keep up the damage and break her parts. No mercy.

                                                      • Anonymous

New trailer came out with some more gameplay. Kulve does come with some brand new attacks (and new horns) for the MR quest. She gets a new jumping slam attack that sprays molten gold where it impacts, as well as getting a new move where she coils up around the central pillar in the last phase and uses her heat ray around the whole area. Also, she does get a brand new style for the armor sets.

Look at them. They come to this place when they know they are not pure. Hunter use the horns, but they are mere trespassers. Only I, Kulve Taroth, know the true power of the Caverns of El Dorado. I was stripped, destroyed, but through its Golden Spiral Horn, the Caverns of El Dorado called to me. It brought me here and here I was reborn. We cannot blame these creatures, they are being led by a false prophet, an impostor who knows not the secrets of the Caverns of El Dorado. Behold the Hunter, come to scavenge and desecrate this sacred realm. My sisters, did I not tell of this day? Did I not prophesize this moment? Now, I will stop them. Now I am changed, reborn through the energy of the Caverns of El Dorado. Forever bound to the Caverns of El Dorado. Let it be known, if the Hunter want true salvation, they will lay down their arms, and wait for the baptism of my Golden Spiral Horn. It is time. I will teach these trespassers the redemptive power of my Golden Spiral Horn. They will learn it's simple truth. The Hunter are lost, and they will resist. But I, Kulve Taroth, will cleanse this place of their impurity.

MR Kulve Taroth is confirmed. There are differences compared to HR though. First off it'll just be a normal quest not a siege so there won't be objectives you have to fulfill. Aditionally its a standard slaying quest, no need to focus the horns to win. The fight will start in "phase 2" so you won't have to chase them around first like in the siege. Lastly the quest awards materials that can be used to bring HR kulve weapons up to Master rank power while also improving their abilities.

I’ve encountered a “glitch” with one of her moves. The fire breath that damage ticks, if guarded the wrong way, will suck you into the center of the fire breath. It’s a guaranteed death if it happens in my experience, because you’re forced into a block vortex which drains all stamina and leaves you defenseless for the rest of the attack.

The lost to the enemy's attack would settle for the most part those committing to the loss of life from whole enemy attacks rather than tribal attacks or frost attacks across the whole of the target.

                                                                • can't wait for when they come back. doing this AT for my first ever attempts were very fun, so i hope that if they come back they're AT and not regular so it's not too easy :p

                                                                  • Anonymous

From what I remember, AT Kulve Taroth will have a new frenzied mode that you have to achieve in order to get those new rainbow rewards. Basically, the AT element in the fight doesn't manifest unless you break the gold off of the horns.

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

Out of all the lbg ammo types to use I found slicing to deal yellow damage but low numbers, sticky seemed to be the best ammo to use to dump damage into the monster, ice and lightning deal roughly the same damage amount with white damage, if you use dragon shots wait for kulve to be stunned/laying down and aim at the tip of the skull by the base of the horns - this ammo is great at chewing the horn plating off, and if you use wyvern then wait for kulve to puff its chest out, dash forward and fire and dodge right at the last second with evade extender.

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous
