"Layered armor" is special armor in Monster Hunter World (MHW) that only changes your appearance while keeping the effects of your equipped armor intact. Once you have some layered armor, you can wear it by following any of the methods below.
You can forge Layered Armor with Iceborne Expansion. Once you reach the Guiding Lands you will gradually unlock each layered armor by killing monsters, gathering mineral veins and bone piles. Increasing regions and gathering levels is required to unlock some Layred Armors. Also see Layered Weapon for the weapon equivalent.
- Item Box Menu (Your Room) > Change Appearance > Layered Armor Settings
- Item Box Menu (Astera or Research Base) > Layered Armor Settings
- You can change the color of your layered armor within the settings above, see "Color Presets". Colors only apply to certain parts of the armor, like the stickets or belts, adornments, etc

I was so disappointed to learn that you can’t equip individual pieces of different layered armour. It seems arbitrary to have to wear a complete armour set :S

I'm doing a checklist, and I saw that 2 that I got are missing of this page :

MONSTERS LIKE FATALIS, ALATREON, AND MORE ARE NOT REQUIRED CAUSE THEY DO NOT EXIST(MAYBE ONE DAY...). ALSO YOU WILL NEED TO DO SOME MINING AND GATHERING IN THE GUIDING LANDS AND BELIEVE ME IT IS THE WORST IF RNG AIN'T ON YOUR SIDE.

Allright I’m just gonna call it right now but I’m like 100% sure that Capcom will add all MR armor sets as layered. I mean seriously, Josh from Ragegaming actually PREDICTED the layered weapons system when everyone thought he was being a bit crazy. And you know what? IT HAPPENED, NOTHING SEEMS CRAZY ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!! Sure, with the current situation (f*ck you coronavirus) the wait will be much longer than we have patience for. But I’m willing to bet my left nut on this, Capcom WILL add all MR armor as layered.

Is layered armor only available in the iceborn expansion? I dont have iceborn so can i still get layered armor in the original game?
Actually you're wrong there is actually a layered armor version I know because I have it on PS4 and don't remember what quest I need to do to get the Azure Era Seal and I definitely saw a PC player using it as I always inspect gear to see what kind of builds people use So yea it exist!

For those wondering, Ingot Layered Armor does exist, it's just not listed here in this wiki. It takes: 5x Frozen Crystal + 3 Meldspar Ore + 3 Fierce Dragonvein Bones It should be listed after the Dodogama armor!

I wish they added the option to craft ALL sets of armour as a "layered" version, but still cost the same materials.. I REALLY like the looks of the glavenus & acidic glavenus armour but the skills aren't that great for my playstyle.

somebody should REALLY make the fact you have to reach the guilding lands to get layered armor, because in every place i've looked it up, the only place i actually found this info is in the comment section of a youtube video.
