Rocksteady Mantle is a type of Specialized Tool in Monster Hunter World. Rocksteady Mantle prevents you from flinching when attacked and reduces the damage you take.
How to Get Rocksteady Mantle
- Must be at least HR 50 and finish the 9★ Optional Quest A Summons from Below to obtain the Rocksteady Mantle from The Armory (Astera).
- A Summons from Below is unlocked by hunting 3 different threat level 3 tempered monsters (purple aura Elder Dragons & Deviljho) and can be assigned from The Armory.
- Can be upgraded to the Rocksteady Mantle +
Rocksteady Mantle Notes
- Damage taken is reduced by 30% and stun buildup is prevented.
- This mantle negates flinching, which gives you the ability to "tank through" and not be interrupted while using items, performing combos or moving.
- The player can still take reduced damage through the mantle, but will not flinch to attacks, roars or pushes from large monster movement. Attacks that would normally knock the player down, granting invulnerability for a short period or knockback out of the area of effect, will no longer move the player; therefore is imperative to watch your HP and carefully time slow attacks while using this mantle.
- This mantle will also prevent the play from being flung off while clutching to the monster. However, this can result in rapid damage, easily carting them.
- The player can still get caught up in muck as the effect that grants immunity to muck is on a different mantle.
- This mantle will not protect against paralysis attacks or animated attacks that pin the player down..
- The Thronetaker event quest leaves the player fighting 3 different threat level 3 monsters, making one easy way to unlock the Rocksteady Mantle if the player can complete the quest.

You need to hunt FIVE (5) tempered elder dragons to unlock the optional quest for the mantle, not just 3.
Doing "The Thronetaker" twice is good enough, repeat kills of the same elder dragon count. Archtempered elder dragons did not seem to count.

Best Mantle it will make you feel immortal but in reality you're not 10/10 would get carted again

here’s a bit of missing information…
You have to be in Astera after you do it. Will not pop up if you’re in Seliana. You have to go to the armory in astera (workshop) and it’ll pop up.
Also, if you’re upset about what other people are using in the game or the fact that newbies or those not that great at the game want the mantle, you need to go find something else to do and stay off of video games. It’s a video game. If you’re pressed about the community helping newbies, please do everyone the favor and delete the game and play no co-op games whatsoever.

Activates poise pointeth downwad. I love bullying low rank monsters with it.

do the 30% damage reduction stack with divine blessing's skill ?

Got hit by Shara Ishvalda's beam attack while wearing this and it hit me multiple times, because of no knockback, killing me instantly with 200hp, where I normally survive it easily. Don't wear it unless you know what you're doing...

"unlocked by hunting 3 threat level 3 tempered monsters"
Yeah but you will have to complete a bunch of other optionals first.

This mantle is stupid good. go unga bunga for 1 and a half minutes on the monster. Easily enough time to get an extra trip, KO, wallbang or at the very least flinch. A must use at the start of every hunt to get early tenderize.

I havent gotten it yet, but I think a good strategy to use with this mantle is to still avoid getting hit, the time I'd get hit would be doing a charge attack, it's the most efficient method I'd think anyways

In case anyone was wondering Arch Tempered Elders do not count. Have to be normal 3 star Tempered Monster. Just did 3 AT Elder Event quests and it did not pop up.

Why would anybody call somebody with this mantle a noob? If you both have it then you might be the exact same skill level Dumb***, they might even be better than you, who gives a **** if they wanna use it? They earned it, You probably use master/high rank weapons and armor, does that make you a noob? No, because you worked for it and have the right to use it, please don't be a ***** and act like your better because you don't use it

It may be worth mentioning that I think Rocksteady may ONLY reduce damage from physical (tooth/claw/tail) attacks, and NOT elemental attacks. I think this is why it's often possible to get almost instantly killed by some elemental attacks that linger and hit many times

I got it after killing 3 Nergigantes, 2 Kushala Daora, and 1 Teostra (All Tempered Level 3 not AT). I can confirm that it's 3 DIFFERENT Tempered and not 5. I killed Teostra last.

i actually killed AT kirin 2 times and then one Temperad (not AT) Kushala Daora and the Armory lady gave me this quest.. not sure about 5 different tempered like the article says

To each is his own! Use it not use it, it’s really up to anyone playing. Hope everyone respects all play styles and choices. ☺️

Did they *****ing nerf the***** out of this? I just used it for the first time shortly after the Safi update on PC, now for the first time the mantle was broken apart after taking just a few hits.
- Anonymous
Was maybe op in MHW but if you rely on that alone against Iceborne elders you'll get open up like a can of coke in 3 hits.
- Anonymous
I'm wondering if the same people complaining about this being a noob item are also the same people complaining kirin is OP.... Seriously though, 3 level 3 tempered elders on hr50+? If you still call someone a noob after completing that, you have to get yourself checked. Mommy's not gonna breastfeed you anymore, you spoiled incel. The moment I get that cape, I'll be busy bumping noobs to their favorite armors....

I love all the idiots below saying they are best hunter because they don't use this mantel, its like they are trying to compensate for how small their C***S are.
- Anonymous
If this was given at the start of the game then by all means***** on the people who use it but this is only obtainable in endgame, after you've experienced all the bull*****the game tried to throw at you: Lunastra nova, Nerg crash, Vaal vape,... You EARNED this and therefore have every rights to use it (there's also the fact that you still take damage so if you get cocky you'd still die as usual)

everytime I see a whiny weeb not using this or braced I just knock them down till they quit the session...how you like them apples.
- Anonymous
Anyone saying this is a crutch can just whiff every big attack they do from now on. If someone wants to use this, they're fine to use it. If you're gonna kick someone cause they have SOME item, then stop playing online you prick. Seriously, if this game was a handheld portable, what would you do when you match up with some kid on a train wearing this? Take his DS and snap it in half to teach him some lesson? Screw off.
- Anonymous
Love how people say this is a noob crutch when Temporal mantle is te more broken and noob friendly one.
- Anonymous
Every time I see somebody join my party using this item, I kick the *****ing noob from my party. This item sucks. Good players don't need it, good players don't use it. It's a crutch for lazy players who want to play the game on "easy mode". ***** off.
- Anonymous
Real Monster Hunter players don't need this item. It only exists to make noobs feel better about themselves/
- Anonymous
i would have to say its the best mantle in the whole game cuz it makes you immune to roars ground tremors even tornados and no flinching no matter what attack

the "can you feel it now, Mister K.Daora ?" founder pack also included 3 flashbang and 10 Flashbug

Really good mantle. You are a tank w this. The increased armor is quite a lot. Both physical and element. It doesn't seem to protect from the super move of lunastra tho. Damage is more or less the same. However, since you won't stagger, it's much easier to escape from it.

It has to be unique tempered elder dragons. I've killed 45 Vaal Hazaks, and I just unlocked it after killing my first temepered Teostra.
