Sterling Pride is a Master Rank Special Assignment in Monster Hunter World Iceborne (MHW). Optional quests are repeatable and unlocked after completing specific points in the main story via Assignments. Special Assignments are DLC content that is added with free updates after the game's release.

Objective

Sterling Pride Information
- Conditions: MR 24 or higher. Must have completed Iceborne's Master Rank Assignments.
- Failure Conditions: Time expires, Faint 3 times.
This quest is obtained by talking to The Admiral in Seliana after installing patch 11.03. The quest is denoted by a purple exclamation icon over the NPC. The Kirin you must slay for this quest starts with a broken horn, it hits slightly harder and always stays enraged, it has however significantly reduced Health.
When you complete the quest, return to the admiral for a cutscene that unlocks the next quest: Reveal Thyself, Destroyer.

AnonymousShield equipped Palico can make this fight very easy. When your cat puts down the target dummy the Kirin will either go into a charge loop a few times then face-to face the dummy, or just walk up to the dummy. He stays there in place long enough for you to safely drop damage combos on his side, just watch out for the AOE lightning strikes he centers on himself randomly. Just don't get frustrated and remember to keep weapon sharpness up if you are melee so your attacks don't start bouncing.

I rarely brag, specially about games, but atm Im genuinely pretty proud of myself. I was expecting this to be super hard judging by the other comments here, so I decided to just try it once with my normal gear to see whats up, before making preperations. Rarity 10 glaveneus armour, all at lvl 1. Rarity 11 Hydros kardia Chargeblade. No lightnening res, anti stun, anti para or vitality decs/jewels
(Only at HR62 MR42 yet so got bad gear lol)
Managed to get it first try in 21 minutes with only 1 death. Again sorry for bragging but man im stoked atm lol

Alright, I just fought it and didn't really have a huge problem, if you wanna get it over with I'm using the Velkhana Insect Glaive with an explosion bug, it wasn't as hard as its being made out to be, don't think of it as a Kirin, think if it as a boss in a bullet hell game, because you are gonna want to dodge everything or you die, I only fainted once. If you go into it with the mindset of its going to be the hardest thing you face like these people make it out to be, its going to be a lot easier, cause that just happened to me.

the biggest tip I can give you is to treat this fight like a bullet hell and avoid attacks, and avoid attacking it from the front and instead opt for attacking it by the side. I didn't have a problem with this fight so I'm not so sure what people were struggling with.

just use shieldspire stooge and just go ham on his body and just pray his lightning doesn't hit you
his lightning attack where he strikes lightning in a circle has a blindspot in the middle and its just rng that it happens and when it does just**** up the body

Never had any problems with normal Kirin, this little bastard is a whole other story. I eventually got pissed and switched to long sword, with enough elemental defense and fortitude it is no longer hard and just purely tedious due to the never ending lightning.
0/10 my thumb hurts after pressing x so much...

I literally had no problem with this. Stock up for Steadfast LvL 3, get your Thunder Res above 40 and eat for Elemental Res. Just be smart and vigilant and Murder Pony should not be a problem. I beat him using the full set of Namielle armor, A+ I believe, and my Blue Corona.

They should of wrote the word SPAMMER on the side of kirin, causre that's all that POS does..every 2 seconds lightning spam and good luck trying to escape/heal your self because that's not gonna happen...devs have no idea how things work...theres a fine line between challenge and spam.. it's like a noob is conttolling the monster and constantly hitting the button (s) for the special attack.

I finished all the special assignments and the main quests of iceborn but i still dont have any special assignments for iceborn any clue why or anything else i need?!

can't clear this, Kirin's aoe markers blend in with the ice and I can't see them, carting 10secs into the fight

I have 25 lightning res and got 200-0 true combo'd off hitting this stupid pony. I guess I bounced off a plate? then it just killed me.
