The Greatest Jagras is an Event Quest in Monster Hunter World (MHW). Event quests are special activities available only for a limited time in a rotating cycle. This quest was introduced with the Appreciation Fest in January 2019.
So I heard that a hunter had a Great Jagras cornered, but when they went to finish it off, a shadow appeared. What do you think it is? Heh, go out and find out for yourself! (Special ticket rewards)
The Greatest Jagras Information
- Conditions: HR 50 or higher
- Failure Conditions: Time expires, Faint 3 times.
- Special Rewards: Faux Ticket III, Worn Feystone, Warped Feystone, Mysterious Feystone, Glowing Feystone
This special quest makes hunters face off against a deadly Jagras, capable of one or two-shotting even experienced and well-geared opponents. If attempting solo, it is best to come prepared with the Temporal Mantle and to bring along tools such as Pitfall Trap, Shock Trap, Flash Pods etc - as they will make your battle much easier.
This Jagras will drop Feystones for Decorations when it pukes, so make sure to pick up all dropped shinies ASAP for they do despawn if left for some time.
If you are just farming common decorations, wait in Area 1 until he eats, shinies are easier to see and pick up here than near his nest. Aggro him there and just wait for him to vomit and run and pick up shines. Assassin's Hood helps speed this up. In a solo run he will stop spitting up shinies after 30 so you can return from the quest at that point and rerun it. Takes no more than a few minutes each run.
If you are farming for rare decorations you should try to complete the quest ASAP for the end rewards of 1-3 Warped Feystones is what you're after.
The Greatest Jagras Notes
Other Monsters in this quest:
Farming Walk Through
There are two effective methods known as puke farming and capture. Puke farming, the easier of the two since you do not need any knowledge of the monster or have good gear. All you need to do is to let Great Jagras eat(wait for him to come to area one and eat a Aptonoth and get enlarged) then puke at you(aggro him by attack), of course dodge the puke for it carts you in two if not one attack. And pick up the shinies(Great Jagras Material). After 30 shinies(30 decorations) has spawn no more will spawn after he pukes. At this time end the quest by slaying, capture or just return from expedition.
For the more endgame players who just want high rarity decorations you want to do the capture method where you need to capture Great Jagras ASAP to obtain the rewards at the end(Worn Feystone x2 is 100% with chances
of Warped Feystone). This method ideally needs to be done in under 7 minutes for any more then the efficiency of Puke farming is greater(rare decorations to time).
How to Capture Method
You need to be able to deal about 12k-14k damage in under 7 minutes to reach the capture state(total HP is about 16,000 solo).
Stomach trip(Give you about 20 seconds of Jagras on his side aft you deal about 700 damage to his belly when he is enlarged, first belly trip)

I did this quest and the size wasn't TOO much to me until I saw the deviljho come and I was like. OH **** he is a BIG BOI then I thought Jho would pick him up and give some free damage but then THICC BOI just slapped him and knocked Jho over. This is down right terrifying

the amount of decorations you get after one run is a hella lot. If you're deep enough into iceborne, if you have it, then this quest is easy and good to farm

Great quest for farming as well as practicing weapons. Just watch out for the roars.

Is the event over? I thought it will still go on until Feb 21?

It seems he drops 30shinies max. After that his puke drops nothing. Chance at a few worn/warped 2-3 in all . Rest are 50/50mix of the lesser two rarities. If solely farming, You can also exit quest after you've accumulated your 30.

The Greatest Jagras has a significant amount of health (Equivalent to Arch-Tempered Elder Dragons), and was capable of chunking 30% of my health bar on my defense-oriented setup (Who has nearly 600 defense outside of fortify). However, it's still a Jagras, and is still weak to staggering and other CC effects. Do note that it causes Tremor with a few of its attacks.

Small note - The Jagras will, ofc, have a guaranteed gold large crown. What's not so obvious on mission start is that the Deviljho will be a guaranteed small crown.
