Hymn of Moon and Sun is a Master Rank Optional Quest in Monster Hunter World (MHW).

I've been going bonkers thinkin' about how I can upgrade your specialized tools. You get me the materials I need and I guarantee this upgrade will have massive impact! (Upgrades the Impact Mantle upon first completion)

- Hunt a Silver Rathalos

- Conditions: MR 125 or higher, have the Impact Mantle unlocked.
- Failure Conditions: Time expires, Faint 3 times.
- Reach MR 125 to unlock.

Hymn of Moon and Sun Notes
- With no Slinger Pods available in Area 15 and using a Heavy weapon, it might be good to grab some before fighting(like in Camp 8) or use the Clutch Claw Boost skill (Shaver Jewel). This way, flinch shots will be possible and make it an easier time to break the hardened head from the metal raths.
- Silver Rathalos will join 10 minutes after the quest started or about 2 minutes and 10 seconds after Golden Rathalos is slain or captured.

My advice is bring rocksteady and temporal mantles so that when the Silver Rathalos joins the fighrt you can smash the monster to one another and focus on dealing damage to the Gold Rathian without being interrupted. I used SnS so I could make the monsters drop slinger ammos anytime I wanted, that is a must for this strategy.

My issue with the quest is 1 those stupid falling rocks that knock you around and 2 once the silver shows up you literally can not tell what is going on, it just devolves into a mess of flailing limbs and fire.

I beat them solo.
Here is how my story goes
I started the fight with a sword and shield... It didn't work.
I came back with a ghost light bowgun with normal shot 2... Interestingly I nearly killed gold raith and I got silver rath halfway dead... But it still didn't work (ran out of time)
Then I tried Max heroic skill activated with spread shot 3 and armor jewelled for Max damage, also the weapon I used was ruinous heavy bowgun... It didn't work.
Then I decided to replicate a bunch of builds that I saw on the internet and... Non of them worked against the terrible duo. It was odd because even though I did the exact same thing as the very successful internet builds it still didn't come close to the effect that those guys got... I don't know why.
Then I tried a bow build dedicated for high Ko and Max damage... It didn't work.
Lastly I tried a blackwing light Bowgun with Max artillery and Max evasion window, my main ammo was sticky 2. It worked insanely well and it wrecked them both.

What are the odds of finishing this quest with 4x of the commission + tickets?

Really not that difficult, the challenge is essentially killing a Gold Rathian with 3/4th the hp in 10min, after that its just a weaker Silver Rathalos with all the time in the world.
Of course if youre going in with stuff thats worse than Lightbreak its going to be more challenging but why would you do that.
Just bring some Herbal Meds and youre all good and you can also just trap spam Gold Rath which gives you around 20s free damage if you keep one to catch which means you only need to to 10k damage.
Bring poison immunity, level 3 fire res and health boost 3 if you struggle against these guys. Divine blessing 3 for good measure.

Prerequisite quest is Showdown: the Muck and the Maul, which is the quest that gets you the Impact Mantle. Hymn of Moon and Sun is the quest that upgrades the Impact Mantle into Impact Mantle+.

Currently MR 128 but I still can't unlock the quest. Is there any other requirement?

F*** everything about this quest. The fact that neither of these pricks ever leave their zone so you can't even try to fight them one on one. Nor does the game give you any singer ammo near them. If you do want some you have to go 2 zones over. F*** the spikes that do no damage but stagger the hell out of you. At least they give you a ledge tho huh? I would rather try and solo extremoth in base world than ever do this again
