A rare gem said to have formed within Odogaron tissue. Used to dramatically improve gear.
How to get Odogaron Gem
This material can be obtained by completing Quests or defeating Odogaron.
Can be obtained at the Elder Melder for 1 Gold Wyverian Print after completing A Wound and a Thirst.

Got super lucky the first time I farmed for this dude, I got it point blank and didnt know it was a required ingredient for Odogaron Waist piece. Wasted it on the critical eye 2 charm. FML

I just crafted 4 pieces of the Kirin armor for the set bonus and captured the Odogaron once, got two gems. Maybe I got lucky idk

Try breaking its tail and head and when he's slayed, carve the tail part. It worked for me

the worst possible item to farm for -_- maybe its just my sht luck but i cannot get this thing at all. on top of that, its not showing up in my melding pot list. this guy isnt even hard; just annoying because hes always moving. the game just refuses to give me his gem.

I actually got this from a plunderer tailraider, which I'd also guess means one could probably get it from using plunderblade as well. I don't know how likely or helpful that is, I undoubtedly just got lucky, but I figured I'd mention it anyways.

I'm sharing this because I got astronomically lucky. Caught one odogaron on an investigation with a silver and gold reward and got 3 gems. Never going to happen again for me, I guarantee it.

Been trying to farm this gem with no luck at all. I've literally done 50+ hunts already including investigations with gold rewards, vouchers etc. to increase my odds of getting one. Still no luck. I'm at my wits end on this one. The only upside is I can literally kill/ capture this guy in less than 10 min. Any suggestions?

According to Monster Field Guide if you break his head it has a chance to drop and if you cut off his tail you have a chance to care it from that

Does anyone have any tips for the gems? I’ve fought this guy at least 25 times with captures, vouchers, the works. Still nothing. Is there a certain criteria that needs to be met to get it?

Are you more likely to get one by capturing skinning or it makes no difference?
I've fought literally 30 he garons with no luck. Broke the head and tail, and did some investigations as well. I'm wondering if I have to slay nergigante beforehand. It's my second playthrough so I'm taking it slower and enjoying everything the game has to offer. Any answers about that though?
