Raw Meat is a Material and Pouch Item in Monster Hunter World (MHW). Meat items are made from Raw Meat carved from Monsters and they can be brought along on hunts. Some meat items can be placed on the ground to lure Monsters and set up traps.

Meat carved from a monster. Can be cooked, combined, or used to set a trap.

If Raw Meat is brought to the field in the Item Pouch, it can be cooked with the BBQ Spit to make Well-Done Steak, a consumable that raises maximum Stamina. If done improperly, cooking Raw Meat can produce Rare Steak or Burnt Meat, both of which have lesser effects. Raw Meat can also be cooked with the Canteen's Oven Roast feature to produce Rations.

In addition, Raw Meat can be used to set up traps for Monsters. This can be done by using it from the Item Bar to place it on the ground and lure a Monster to a Hazard, Shock Trap, or Pitfall Trap. Alternatively, Raw Meat can be combined with other Items to trigger Status Effects such as Poison. A Monster will only be lured by meat items when is is low on Stamina and seeking food. - denoted by this minimap icon monster status exhausted icon on the minimap when the Scoutfly Level for that Monster is at level 3.
Note that only two meat items can be placed at one time, and they will disappear after five minutes.

See Loadouts for information on configuring Item storage and use.

Note that all Monsters do not seek out meat unless they are Exhausted, and Odogaron specifically has its own Meat that it will eat first. Small Monsters will also chase down your meat from surprisingly far away, especially Girros. Meat bait works on both Glavenuses, both Anjanaths, both Tigrexes, both Bazelgeuses, both Deviljhos, both Odogarons, Great Jagras, Beotodus, and Nargacuga. Nothing else takes meat bait, even if it is a Carnivore and is prone to Exhaust. Great Jagras also balloons up if it is able to eat two Raw Meat, saving a poor Aptonoth's life.

Has anyone else played 1000+ hrs of this game and forgot the whole time I could bait traps like this? I gotta give this a try.
