Whetfish Fin is a consumable Pouch Item in Monster Hunter World (MHW). These and other Items from fish can be gathered in the field and brought along on hunts.
A fish fin used to sharpen Weapons. Restores Sharpness greatly, but good for fewer uses than a Whetstone.
Whetfish Fins can be used from the Item Bar while in the field to restore the Sharpness of a Weapon, similarly to a Whetstone. These fins perform better than Whetstones, requiring only 2 cycles, and are equivalent to level 2 Speed Sharpening. Whetfish Fins are consumed upon use.
Note: Multiple sharpening speed effects don't stack, only the strongest individual effect (lowest number of cycles) is used. See also: Felyne Polisher, Whetfish Fin+.

How to Acquire Whetfish Fin
Whetfish Fins are obtained by using the Fishing Rod to catch Whetfish out in the field. Each Whetfish caught will yield one Fin.
Both Baitbugs and the Master Fisher Skill can be used to make fishing for Whetfish easier.

Sharpening with this counts as having 2 levels of speed sharpening. The Whetfishe Fin+ has a decent chance of not being consumed upon use. Fishing up some of these is fairly easy and frees the gem slots you're using for speed sharpening.
