Defense Boost is a Skill in Monster Hunter World (MHW).
Defense Boost Effect
Defense Boost is increased in level based on the amount of Equipment with this skill the hunter is using. Each level works as follows:
Level 1: +5 Defense- Level 2: +10 Defense
- Level 3: +5% Defense and Bonus +10.
- Level 4: +5% Defense, Bonus +20 and +3 to All Elemental Resistances
- Level 5: +8% Defense, Bonus +20 and +3 to All Elemental Resistances
- Level 6: +8% Defense, Bonus +35 and +5 to All Elemental Resistances
- Level 7: +10% Defense, Bonus +35 and +5 to All Elemental Resistances

I like how this skill has such miserable gains for the ridiculous amount of slot investments. "LMAO git gud" that's basically its message.

Seems only worth using with 2 hard jewels for lvl 6. Otherwise kinda a waste of slots and lvl 7 only gives 2% more (around 20). Lvl 6 with the defense and element bonuses seems equivalent to ~12% flat defense increase which seems ok paired with health boost.

It’s a great skill. But maybe some people just don’t have builds that work well with it l. Wich might explain why some people don’t like it. Defense boost and health boost are the most common skills I’ve used

In terms of changes to effective hp (how much hp you have given the modification from defense and elemental resist) this skill is far inferior to healthboost three and divine blessing three. Look to use those before considering this skill, with health boost being by far the most efficient

Why do capcom even bother putting this skill in the game? Health boost 3 and divine blessing 5 are far superior defensive skills
This skill is op in iceborne. They buff the charm to have 5 levels and change the skill so it gives 10% more total defense on top of 35 defense and buff elemental res by +2. With end game armor you will have around 750 to 850 defense without this skill and hunting horn defense large buff. May not even lose that much damage because you can slot skills in mantles now too.

Just to those curious if +elelment def.. lvl 4 def boost upgrading to level 5 does NOT stack, not tested upto LVL 7...

I bet this will be one of the least equipped decorations in the game..... People never account for how important defense is until Nergigante 1-shots them.
