latent-power-skill

Temporarily increases affinity and reduced stamina depletion when certain conditions are met.

Latent Power is a Skill in Monster Hunter World (MHW).

Latent Power Effect

Latent Power is increased in level based on the amount of Equipment with this skill the hunter is using. Each level works as follows:

  • Latent Power Level 1: While active, increases Affinity by 10% and reduces stamina depletion by 30%
  • Latent Power Level 2: While active, increases Affinity by 20% and reduces stamina depletion by 30%
  • Latent Power Level 3: While active, increases Affinity by 30% and reduces stamina depletion by 50%
  • Latent Power Level 4: While active, increases Affinity by 40% and reduces stamina depletion by 50%
  • Latent Power Level 5: While active, increases Affinity by 50% and reduces stamina depletion by 50%
  • Latent Power Level 6: While active, increases Affinity by 50% and reduces stamina depletion by 50%. Triggers easier (requires Latent Power SecretIceborne only
  • Latent Power Level 7: While active, increases Affinity by 60% and reduces stamina depletion by 50%. Triggers easier (requires Latent Power SecretIceborne only

Latent Power (levels 1 to 5) activates after taking a total of 180 damage or after 300 seconds have passed since the beginning of the hunt or since the last deactivation. Meaning it will activate again by itself after 300 seconds after last deactivation or if you take 180 damage after deactivation it will activate immediately. The effect lasts for 120 seconds.

At level 6 or 7, The amount of damage Latent Power activates at is reduced to taking 130 damage.

This skill would be much better if the duration refreshed every time you meet the conditions, instead of waiting it out and awkwardly having to reactivate it again.

A duration buff at Level 7 would be nice too, along with an actually useful description that doesn't need me to google how it actually works.

The health drain from Safi armor set can trigger latent power. Maybe a situational build for dual blade elemental safi set?

Good skill for insect glaive or dual blades, maybe others. Use rocksteady, healing augment, and go ham while taking hits. Can pretty much activate it every time rocksteady is up, and with tool specialist, you may have it up nearly full time.

Can be dangerous against fatalis, or furious rajang though, but still works well enough imo.

If anyone was wondering, the stamina depletion is fixed and continuous stamina depletion, basically its like constitution and marathon runner.

this is pretty good skill for elemental safi build, cuz u always get damage while attacking. just combine this with health regen augment and you're good to go

I'm chuckling at the amount of anti-latent-power salt in this thread. Some of these peeps could never run Valor in GenU (Although To be fair, Valor state has a more appealing trigger method).
Valor Style + Insect Glaive + Latent Power in that game makes for a wild, constantly shifting power balance while the buffed states all switch on and off.
Regardless, It's a neat skill to have in World if you stop deluding yourself that you're going to be hunting everything ultra-optimally and without complication.

extremely good skill for when you play weapons to stick to the monsters face like lance or gunlance. it also excels with insect glaive. the stamine reduction is so immense it really helps staying in air and critburst every monster to death

The only problem with this. jewel is it does not override itself upon next threshold reached while active.

Not very useful under most conditions, however the Safi'Jiiva set bonus in Iceborne has made this skill somewhat attractive for high stamina usage weapons, particularly Dual Blades. The self-damage inflicted when attacking by the armour set bonus counts towards the amount of damage required to activate Latent Power, allowing you to have the buff active almost all of the time. However, if you're not using the Safi'Jiiva armour or you're not using a stamina-hungry weapon then there are more efficient ways to get affinity into your build, and if you're not using a stamina-hungry weapon then you won't really care about Latent Power's stamina reduction effect anyway.

Had a thought to get latent power 7, dual blades with the healing augment, recovery speed 3 and recovery up 3 and super recovery. Now how am I going to fit in crit boost, earplugs and critical eye. . . ..?

                        • Most meta builds use peak performance or agitator for obvious reasons - they are made for speedruns that assume you will never take damage and will finish asap. So bother of these activation conditions are pretty bad for that. But for the average player, on DB or Bow, doing an AT Elder in 30-40 minutes and going through 20+ pots, I recon this is a pretty good skill to have.

I still don"t see much usefulness of Latent Power. Yes its sound not bad to have affinity & stamina buff, and 30%-50% is a lot. Only one sutuation that I could see Latent power make use for the build is to taking a very high raw damage weapon which usually came with negative affinity up to -30%, this give you an option to add more attack skill to your build rather than spend most of decoration slot to cover up the negative affinity

Level 2: 20% increased affinity and reduced stamina depletion is actually 10% at level 2 then increases at level 3.
