Slugger is a Skill in Monster Hunter World (MHW).
Slugger Effect
Slugger is increased in level based on the amount of Equipment with this skill the hunter is using. Each level works as follows:
Level 1: Stun power +20%- Level 2: Stun power +30%
- Level 3: Stun power +40%
- Level 4: Stun power +50% (requires Slugger Secret)
- Level 5: Stun power +60% (requires Slugger Secret)
Slugger affects any attack that deals KO damage. This includes any blunt/impact attack hitting the monster's head or any attack hitting the head while wearing the Impact Mantle. Slinger Ammo such as Stones, Redpits, Scatternuts, Thorn Pods, and Crystalburst are also affected by the Slugger skill. KO damage can be identified by a distinct sound.
These attacks cause stun and benefit from the Slugger skill:
- Shield attacks (SnS, Lance, CB)
- Charge blade attacks when charged with impact phials
- Blunt bug attacks (IG)
- Blunt weapon attacks (Hammer, Hunting Horn)
- Melee attacks with Bowguns
- Sticky ammo (Bowguns)
- Most attacks with Impact Mantle on

You can increase the level of Slugger by equipping the following items.

You forgot Exhaust Phial Switch Axes on the list of weapons that deal KO damage. Exhaust Damage from SA's to the head count as KO damage.

Is Slugger recommanded? i have one hammer build and that has slugger 5 but i heard that slugger is pretty bad in multiplayer. Is that true

Knocking over enemies by leg hits don't cause stun damage. Leg attacks cause stagger, enough stagger and the monster falls. As far as I'm aware there is no skill that increases stagger.
Stun happens when a blunt attack hits the head enough.
Attacks that cause stun:
Shield attacks (SnS, Lance, CB)
Charge blade attacks when charged with impact phials
Blunt bug attacks (IG)
Blunt weapon attacks (hammer, HH)
Melee attacks with bowguns
Sticky ammo (bowguns)
Most attacks with Impact Mantel on

Does slugger only work with blunt weapons? I want to use a longsword with slugger skill to knock enemies down more often .

For all the LS Users with Iceborne. Use 2 pieces of the Barioth Set for Punishing Draw, combine them with 3 pieces of Diablo Set for Slugger secret and use the impact mantle. Now you can K.O Monsters like the weeb you are (respectfully)
