Windproof is a Skill in Monster Hunter World (MHW).
Windproof Effect
Windproof is increased in level based on the amount of Equipment with this skill the hunter is using. Each level works as follows:
Level 1: Slightly reduces the effects of minor wind pressure.
Level 2: Reduces the effects of minor wind pressure.
Level 3: Negates minor wind pressure.
Level 4: Negates minor wind pressure and reduces the effects of major wind pressure.
Level 5: Negates minor and major wind pressure.
Note: Windproof doesn't prevent the wind pressure from Kushala aura. The armor set bonus from Kushala armor (Kushala Daora Flight) is needed to ignore the wind aura from Kushala.

YES IT DOES negate kushalas wind. go actually try it. i just fought him with full fatalis gear: got pushed back by wind. then equipped the windproof level 5 charm: no pushback. i was practically standing inside his tornado, no pushback. i was huging his ass, no pushback. i was baiting his wind projectiles for 10 minutes, no pushbacks.
please guys, stop lying. its annoying

So after reading most of the comments it seems this doesn't do as much for Kushala but can still be useful if you implement it correctly and also makes Lunastra easy af.

A perfect counter to Lunastra. She fans the flames and a big part of why her ultimate attack is so dead is because of the wind stunning you. Get the immunity to wind pressure and she can't bully you anymore.

idk why people are saying it's trash, rocking the kushala armor bonus and some rath stuff for that ice attack and focus and this***** is great for lunastra

So how are we supposed to understand the difference between minor and major wind pressure? Such a garbage wiki for such an obtuse game. Am I supposed to test this myself somehow?

What a pile of trash. Just use a hunting horn. Like half the horns give wind nullification, which is shockingly useful against anything with wings.

Don't forget to add in that Rath Soul Coils alpha and beta also offer two points of Windproof each :)

Windproof level 5 doesn't seem to do anything against Kushala, most attacks still knock you back anyways. Literally the only point of the skill. What were they thinking?
>the wind skill even at Lv5 isn't actually very useful against the windy monster's wind, even its aura
>it's more useful against the annoying blue flame thing
i'm so tired of this game's lack of detailed explanations
