Grandfather Mantagrell is an Endemic Life creature in Monster Hunter World (MHW). These animals and insects are found out in the field, and can be captured by dedicated Hunters looking to research the New World.
Be gentle with this fella. GENTLE! If you hit it with even ONE shot from your slinger, it'll come careening down to the ground.
Location
You can find Grandfather Mantagrell in:
- Coral Highlands, sector 11, 12, 13. They fly high up in the sky and can be brought down with the Slinger or a weapon hit
Capturing Rewards
You can capture the Grandfather Mantagrell by knocking it out of the air with any slinger shot and then using the capture net on it once it falls to the ground.
- House placing: Sky
- Other rewards: 25 RP
Notes
- Can be seen on the Main Menu when it displays the Coral Highlands.
- It is a pet, and can be placed in the third house's (Private Suite) "Sky" category.
- It can rarely happen that Downy Crakes travel on a Grandfather Mantagrells back.

I never tried capturing one because it looked much too large to fit in the net.
