The Argosy Captain (or the Seliana Sailor in the Iceborne Expansion) is an NPC in Monster Hunter World (MHW). NPCs are non-playable characters that interact with the Hunter during the story or optional activities in game.
The Argosy is a trade ship that sporadically calls into port in headquarters to offer special Item sets for sale. The Captain is an experienced sailor who has mastered all types of ships. To make sure that the fleet is safely sent off and welcomed he always keeps an eye on the New World's uniquely harsh conditions. When he was a novice, he joined the First Fleet and came to the New World.
Staring out at the sea everyday in silence, he reads the waves. That skill is useful when it comes to things like sheduled trade ships.
Location
The Argosy will become available upon completion of the Zorah Magdaros story arc with A Colossal Task. After this, it will arrive at random after the Hunter returns from Quests, similar to the passage of time for cultivation at Botanical Research. The Argosy Captain can be found across from the Elder Melder in Astera's Tradeyard, while the Seliana Sailor will make Argosy shipment available to the Hunter from the Central Area of Seliana. After three quest cycles, the Argosy will depart.
Services
The Argosy Captain and the Seliana Sailor allow a Hunter to purchase randomized bundles of Items for 
Research Points. These bundles come in three types:
- Consumable Items, which include Meats, Potions, Slinger Pods, and other restoration and enhancement Items. These bundles also include some non-consumable Items used to craft other Consumables.
- Material Items, which include Items normally obtained by carving Monsters or as Quest rewards.
- Trade-In Items, which serve only to be sold for Zenny from the Item Box. This is an effective way to convert excess Research Points into Zenny.
Hunters can change the types of bundles brought in by the Argosy with the Request Goods option.
