Blastblight is a Status Effect in Monster Hunter World (MHW). Blastblight causes a damaging explosion on both Hunters and Monsters.
Blast Effect
On Monsters
- Triggering the effect requires buildup inflicted by:
Weapons that wield Blast damage or Bow Blast Coating.
Buildup damage is modified by a Monsters resistance to Blast. - When Blast is triggered, an explosion will occur at the nearest unbroken Monster Body Part, dealing 120 Parts Damage to all Parts in a small radius. This damage becomes 300 in Master Rank.
- Buildup effect is identifiable by crackling orange sparks at the point of impact.
- Each successive trigger of Blast requires more buildup than the last, but the effect damage remains the same.
On the Player and Allies
- Hunters inflicted with Blastblight will have crackling orange sparks appear on their person, which will erupt in a damaging explosion after a short time or if a hard enough impact is received. The explosion can affect nearby allies.
- The effect can be recognized by this symbol: on the HUD
- Can be cured with a Nulberry or by dodge-rolling up to three times.

just a question, but wasn't blast build up like all ailments, but on build up, you get a timer until you explode and getting hit by more blast proccs in that time increases the blast damage you take on explosion? does that work the some on monsters or is it just a boom-procc?

Can someone teach me how the explosion element works in this game?
is fire damage? or the blast damage is different?
fun fact : Bazel and seething bazel inflicts blastblight BUT only on other monsters, so that's why we dont get blast blight from seething Bazel
