Ruiner Nergigante Combat Info

  • Kinsect Extracts:
    • Red: Head/Forelegs
    • Orange: Horns/Body/Hindlegs
    • White: Wings
    • Green: Tail
  • Enraged mode: spikes start to turn black faster.
  • When a limb has white spikes, it will become a weakpoint and be breakable, when the spikes are black, it will be resistant to damage and be unbreakable.
  • When thorns are fully grown it will nose dive and throw thorns in that direction.
  • Will also keep throwing its horns at you so its best to dive as much as possible when it charges at you.
  • Avoid all direct attacks as it can make you faint in 2 attacks back to back.

Combat Tactics for Ruiner Nergigante

The Ruiner Nergigante is the stronger and more ferocious version of the standard Nergigante. It shares a lot of its combat moves, speed, and behavior with the original, as well as having the ability to heal itself and resist damage as the fight wears on. As you first encounter the Ruiner Nergigante, you will immediately notice the white spikes that have formed on its limbs. At this state, these are its weakest points and you should aim for them. You can see it covering their body so you can practically aim any part at the start.

Make sure that you are using a Dragon-based ailment Weapon to deal the most damage, followed by the Thunder. Preferably, you can use either Blunt or Ammo damage when going for the head. This will soften up the spikes and weaken it. Always pay attention to the spikes of the Ruiner Nergigante. This would indicate the threat level and how dangerous the fight is becoming.

As you notice the spikes turn a different color, either black or metallic, the Ruiner Nergigante will start doing a Nose Dive attack. This is extremely dangerous and can cart players if it lands on your directly. Be ready to do an Emergency Dive if you think you will not make it to a safe zone. Ideally, you would want to equip the Rocksteady Mantle, or the Temporal Mantle to boost your chances of surviving the attacks. You can even have both ready for that extra insurance.

Lastly, try not to take on the fight against a Ruiner Nergigante head on. Be patient and keep an eye out for openings. Take out the spikes first while it's breakable and then focus next on the Head and Forearms. This will tenderize the body parts and will allow you to deal the most damage later on.

Ruiner Nerggy... I want to like the fight but Jesus christ he's like a 5 year old that ate 3 pure sugar cupcakes and you told them no more YouTube for the weekend. Pure hyper energy!

      • Anonymous

The fact that killing this before Shara DOESN’T count as a kill / grant materials is ridiculous… such a frustrating fight.

        • Anonymous

Did you know that ruiner nergi is the only predator to Shara, meaning we didn’t have to do anything and ruiner would have killed Shara for us. Kinda makes me wonder if we are just making things worse…….anyways back to hunting incident monster that may or may not have a important role in the ecosystem

          • Anonymous

You may not except it... but he is just the Definition of kill stealer (and we betray him after he saved us but who cares)

            • Anonymous

Lance and Shield with Dragon or Thunder element, along with Uragaan armor with gems that protect against bleeding. And your Palico using the very first item that he comes, the Virgo Wasp thing.

I literally could not tell what the **** he was doing 90% of the time since his enormous wings and ass filled my screen completely. Any attack he did make often missed entirely because his arms weren't even near me, but when I did get hit it felt like it came out of nowhere and had no idea what hit me or how to dodge it. It hit hard enough that I had to pop a potion, but was so infrequent that I could just keep wailing on him the whole time anyway. Took me 15 minutes first try without using tenderize or LS counters, spending the whole time under his ass. Not a bad fight but after Furious Rajang, Ruiner Nergi feels real underwhelming

                • Anonymous

wish it could be found in elders recess...but its prolly just nostalgia or smth speaking from me after everytime i came home from school the first thing i did was fighting this monsters normal ver.

                  • Anonymous

this (especially tempered) is the challenge I expected and ended up wanting from high rank Nergigante; awesome, awesome fight

                    • Anonymous

Favourite Elder Dragon fight by far ... since most of them are bullshit anyway

Hits hard, hits fast and no gimmick mechanic or nuke (but i do miss that super bodyslam of regular Nergi)

Just you and Nergi having a good old martial focused brawl with each other

Ode to Destruction mission seems pretty rewarding too

But i admit, i find it amusing how after we learned Nergi plays a crucial part of the eco system, keeping anomalies like Xeno or Shara in check or in general just being a clean up janitor like many irl animals, the commission decide you have to hunt him down anyway

                      I guess **** nature lol

                      • Anonymous

I absolutely suck at fighting nergi but I figured out how to cheese it. I took one rank of agitator (challenger). I just wallbanged him for some free hits, then when he enraged farcasted out of there. I waited out of combat until my agitator attack buff disappeared.. then repeat. The "trick" was mostly just wallbanging him for free hits then running away until he calmed down enough to wallbang him again, but I still attacked him a bit (not much) when he was busy with my palico, and towards the end of the fight when I finally hurt him enough to topple him. The whole fight took about 35mins with zero deaths (I usually die ALL THE TIME).

What should I do to defeat the nergigante at level 196 should I wait until im a higher level or go for it.

I cant deafet the hergigante I died so much times and Im level 196 should I level up higher to battle it or just go for it?

Should be mentioned in combat info that every time it roars, it gains a permanent additive 4% increase to its overall speed

Even though I Killed a good amount of ruined nergs it's still a pain to fight this thing.

Every time I fight it and it's usually a tempered one it does that move where it turns and hits faster than I can blink, smacks me into the ground finishes it's combo.... Aaand when I'm up it spams it again.... Aaand guess what? it does it again.

Not to mention it's practically enraged 24/7.

This is from my experience: Kushala, Kirin, Lunastra Even furious Rajang are not nearly this annoying.

The furious rajang special assignment has ruiner nerigante and is the only way I know of to bypass getting to mr100 to get any of the materials from the real loot pool

Ah my true rival. after losing so many times to normal Nergi i finally got the pattern and gave him the business and for a while it was me on top. and then he came back spikier than ever. but by then I improved and so has he so it was a really fun fight and me and him still duke it out when we see each other. good times Nergi good times.

Is tempered ruiner nergi found in all lvl 7 GL regions, or just lvl 7 tundra? There seems to be conflicting information on this.

This TRUE SPIKEY BOI is pretty Dangerous considering you aren't given much room to work with and hard to sleep bomb.

I have like 100 guild cards from 100 other players and when I see the ones that are MR 999 their Ruiner kills are absolutely crazy! Like the most hunted elder dragon I saw from most of them. For example I saw a guy who defeated Ruiner over 400 time's! I feel like this is partially due the event quest "Ode to Destruction" which rewards you Great Spiritvein gems but idk :/

                                          • Anonymous

They made a mistake of locking him behind mr 100. By the time you get there you have already probably fought much harder fights and put them on farm (like raging, furious, and alatreon and MAYBE fatalis but that one is quite the stretch) to the point where you kinda just slap the crap out of him. He isn't exactly easy per say but if you were like me and went through the very painful process of soloing alatreon, he really doesn't stand a chance.

ok ill admit it he IS VERY COOL but he is also one of the 7 kings of the new world ( maybe even a god ) i mean with spikes that fly of his body that get harder and harder to break he has got to be a king i will tell you the 7 kings: velkhana, ruiner nergigante, namielle, shara ishvalda, blackveil vaal hazak, safi'jiiva and, alatreon
fatalis? well, HE IS A GOD

Not gonna lie, now that we're at the end of iceborne, I hope they make this the last Archtempered as a sendoff. The stuff done with Velkhana was great but it just didn't have the same power that going toe to toe with Archtempered nergigante gave off in base world.

he could be the best fight in the game, or the worst. Depends on how many insta pepegas and *****slaps he wants to do. along with the side hop

"Just trip lock him till he dies you noob"

Finally fought for the first time and he was more annoying than regular Nergigante because his move when he slams his hands to the ground VERY wide spikes come out. Almost every time I got hit by it and results in bleed! I failed to superman dive so many times and it's really annoying. his head spikes are no problem but his hand spikes are a problem. And I think his dive bombs has more accurate aim. But I don't know if it's just me but when I clutch claw to his tail when doing his doing his dive bomb I didn't get hit but that just my experience. Overall more annoying than hard but an enjoyable fight. Also one funny moment and good karma happen after that fight, I was doing another guiding lands SOS flare and I was trying to get my rotted region to level 7 until Ebony odogoran was captured and I was about to leave when Ruiner showed up! AND he was in the rotted region! I really couldn't believe my luck so I fought him with the other hunters but sadly I disconnected mid battle. Luckily I and the other hunters already dealt 2 part breaks! So I kept fighting IN THE SAME AREA for 20 minutes while he was doing 9 dive bombs in a row! But after that he was almost dead and I used mega barrel bombs and he was dead. But it doesn't end there, after that I went to report the mission and My rotted region didn't go up that much so I was pretty sad.... BUT I noticed I got a gold crown Ruiner Nergigante! So I was happy again (end of my story and experience).

                                                    • Anonymous

his spikes spread out more and it causes bleed! I can't wait to fight him in the story quest since the fight with him in the shara ishvalda quest was kinda easy.

                                                      • Anonymous

Got to this boy way late, but it was worth it because Nergi is still cool. Felt pretty awkward wailing on it with Raging Brachy and Rajang gear though. For the comments, it's ENTIRELY possible to get to do Safi and hell, Alatreon before this spiky boy even appears as a full quest due to you needing to be MR 100. I play the game very slow, so that's why I got to him so "late" in the game after Raging Brachy and Safi was down for me. That said, laughably easy at that point. Mind's Eye (gem or set) and any strong blast or dragon weapon will destroy it. Mind's Eye is kind of a must for your sanity with it's spikes. I used mostly Stygian everything and Rajang mixed set for him. I don't run any "meta" builds, but I'll recommend you bring Speed Eating if you can slot it and boost your health, as it still hits pretty hard when enraged and you'll really like being able to drink potions fast if you don't already run Speed Eating. Also remember a Palico with the coral horn or shield buddy will save your butt much more on solo than with the healing spray and Immunizer can be used to stop bleed and heal more quickly if it tags you. To those still struggling, you got this!

Well... he was kinda easy, compared to black diablos that I cant beat without turtle gun lance, and well... that thing raging brachydios that I'll probably never try again, I could beat ruiner nergi in my first atempt

Honestly one of the most easiest hunts I've ever done, was scared of nothing. When I've done him I went to do his tempered version (Ode to Destruction) and it was easy as well. I'd say Raging Brachy is more difficult but

                                                            • Anonymous

This poor guy has not aged well. I bought Iceborne pretty late, and by the time i unlocked Nergi i already had full Safi, full Raging Brachy etc. - so not only was he pretty easy, but all his gear became obsolete before i even forged them. What a shame.

Driven by dual-tracks for better performance, armed with the powerful 154mm or 160mm smoothbore gun, two 14.8mm heavy machine guns, one remotely operated variant mounted on the turret, another mounted on the right of the main gun, and is one of the vehicles; capable of killing an Elder-Level Monster eg. Savage Deviljho or Elder Dragon such as Ruiner Nergigante and Velkhana with just one shot from very long ranges. *a Holographic Demonstration shows a UEDF M30A2 "Growler" Heavy Main Battle Tank firing its 160mm gun at a Savage Deviljho and Ruiner Nergigante from a range up to 7,500 meters.*

Good night folks. I came here to see if anyone can help me. It's about the Ruiner Nergigante ... I'm at rank 99 for many missions and don't release my Nergigante. I made them all optional, some investigations, Saffi siege and nothing. I'm discouraged because I really want to continue the game, but my Master rank is paralyzed. Do you have a specific mission to release the nergigante?

                                                                  • Outside of festivities this game is a lot more of a pain in the ass. Didn't remember getting to MR100 was even a thing for me on my wyman in January. Steamworks doesn't spit out decorations anymore is also quite the blow in the neither region. Started Iceborne in Dec 19 and didn't even know it was only a time limited feature... 50000 fuel... :/

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

People complained that AT Nergi was unfathomably unfair and broken...now people say Ruiner is too easy...you people need to make up your minds.

                                                                          • Anonymous

This fight was fun but, for how epic it should have been, it was disappointingly easy...Soloed with GS easily and tbh I found AT nerg way harder. I wanted this fight to feel impossible, or that we were evenly matched but I decimated this thing, no carts, and it just felt unsatisfying.

                                                                            • Anonymous

Weaknergi should be his name, AT was at least challenging and forced you to learn it's patterns. This one you just go in and kill it with no fuss

                                                                              • Anonymous

Ruiner is a better fight compared to the bullshet that is Arch Tempered Nergigante. That Arch Tempered Nerg unannounced dive kills me every single time in stage 3, to the point I had to use farcaster quite liberally to avoid that bullshet back then.

                                                                                • Anonymous

Easier then I expected, I love my boy nergi but for the most part Vaal weapons seem just generally better to me and his armor isn’t that great. For what is essentially the True final boss of iceborne he doesn’t really feel as hard as he should be and while his gear does look great, it doesn’t seem great to me. :/ ah well, I love nergi all the same

                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Anonymous
