Notes & Trivia

  • It is known as the "Crushing Wyvern".
  • Its name comes from the latin Brachium that means "Arm" and when translated into Japanese, the word resembles obsidian, which is what Brachydios' shell is made of.
  • It is the second monster (after Viper Tobi-Kadachi) to add a status effect not seen in the base game of Monster Hunter World.
    • However, unlike Viper Tobi-Kadachi, it is (currently) the only monster that can inflict the status effect it introduces, that being status effect blastscourge mhwi iconBlastscourge.
  • It has a powered-up and more dangerous version called Raging Brachydios.
  • The Brachydios was first introduced to the series in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, for the Wii and the 3DS.
  • Brachydios is capable of inflicting an enhanced version of Blastblight known as Blastscourge, resulting in more potent explosions that persist for an extended duration, requiring additional rolling efforts to eliminate.

This monster is in a weird spot for me.. on one hand, this is not really a techinal/hard monster. But his slime REALLY punishes tacklling through his moves with GS (while other monster typically rewards you instead). Challenging.. not in a fun way for me imo

This guy was wiping the floor with me - I was barely holding my own. A load of thanks to the Azure Rathalos for making it run away injured and allowing me to capture it. Whew.

When I first saw him I instantly called him “exploding d**k head” now I can’t call him anything else

If you get the ailment just literally ignore EVERYTHING and roll from 4 to 5 times. If you don't you'll get a lotta damage. Easier than it looks at the start. Btw epik cutscene.

Now that's finally an interesting fight along with Narga after those two insane, absurdly swift, constantly charging and never-stopping Tigrex and Barioth. Those two annoying guys were a real pain, but this fight is fair, it takes a skill, timing and attention, contrary to pure stupid dodging for 80% of those two fights.

For cheesing during quest - take trapper Palico, lure it into Rathalos (-10% hp approx during turf war), use obstacles near first area and use lava fountain in the cave (-5-10% hp through all of these), flash/trap while enraged and wallbang after, put all damage in while stunned/trapped/KO, spam poison bombs while dodging (bring along 10 toadstool and smokenut, 15 bombs with Rathian Palico weapon is enough to poison him 4-5 times during a hunt, that's a free damage, which removes around 10% of it's hp and doesn't require you to switch into poison build or lose raw damage, almost takes no time to apply).

He doesn’t hit very hard with the melee hits but if he combos you with a melee hit into a explosion it can one shot you. He is relatively fast so evade extender might help. I would highly recommend taking an ice or water weapon. You have access to these from Beotodus and Coral Pukei Pukei. I would (quite obviously) recommend health boost. I don’t think you should take Ice attack but it might not be bad. The thing is though is that if you have that option you might as well take attack boost. He stays raged for a while and he rages quickly so I would take agitator. For actually fighting him I would try to break the arms because I am pretty sure this staggers him giving an opening. If you use a short range weapon take advantage of the clutch claw. If you break the head I am pretty sure it topples him. Remember these skills aren’t required to be taken it is just me recommending them. That is all I have to say for now. Happy Hunting and don’t give up!!!

This bastard made me take 17 BLOODY TRIES just for one kill. He makes you get your hopes all up and knocks your teeth out with the smack of a lifetime. I had to resort to light bowgun with a full team of randoms just to make it to Velkhana. Never. again.

Normal version, okay not too bad, I kind of like it. Tempered version, no it's almost as bad as the Raging variant, leaving giant puddles everywhere with extremely weird patterns, constantly making me wait for very few extremely obvious openings.

if you have trouble: read this!
ok so brachy has a hard time getting his "acid" on the floor with a broken hand so if you want to weaken his chance of hitting you with blastscourge then break his hands you can stop his blastscourge by rolling four times but five if branchy is enraged branchy has two long range attacks he will jump over to you and try to smash you or he will walk and punch the ground at the same time for those attacks i would recommend super man diving both of them ( bonus tip when he is putting his hands in his mouth he is giving them more acid because overtime his hands get well dry when this happens dont be so scared because his attacks weaken and his blastscourge is removed so go all out on him ) -Smart Guy

My boy brachy is my pal. We were on the quest, and we were tearing him up. Then, azure rathalos gets the stupid idea that turf wars would end well. They had like three. Hehe. Azure rathalos was limping. :›)

                        • Hello my fellow hunters, mortals seem to be having a problem with this monster so I thought I could shed some light on some forbidden tips. Anti blast 3 will make this fight much more enjoyable since it takes the most annoying thing out of the fight (Like Poison restiance on Viper tobi) water element weapons are good since you can give him a bubble bath to get the slime off, and there probably worth farming since down the line it will be useful. Clutch clawing his face is also easier. Anyway my dads yelling at me to go to bed so good luck my fellow hunters. (P.S if your having any problems please comment and I will do my best to help.)

Brachydios: oh you’re approaching me instead of running away your coming right to me?
Hunter: I can’t beat the **** out of you without getting closer.
Brachydios: oh ho! Then come as close as you like

literally when I saw Uragaan covered in slime in his intro and looked at me I felt a bit sad for him even though I hate him. After that then i saw brachy and he was just so cool

                              • Anonymous

My baby brother was watching me play when the intro scene cut in for him. So when he takes down urgaan he is like "Yay fist bump!" But then the Urgaan blew up and he started screaming, I love this game :)

So we all just gon ignore what the name origin in the notes and trivia as of commenting this is stated as? Because I am 95 percent sure the name comes from “Brachium” and “Dios”, roughly meaning “Arm God”, not... uh, what’s currently there. Is that accurate?? Or should it be changed? It just seems really unlikely 0.0

You can use puddle pods to remove the slime on his hands - barring him from making exploding puddles - only until he re-applies it again or enters rage mode wherein the slime cannot be removed

Tempered brachydios is a bit garbage. Instant oneshot on 980 armor, with less than 145 health, using a light bowgun. It's insane how he can barrel through someone with the slightest misstep, and just kill them. I'd be happy to learn some tips on how to deal with that fight.

I have important news! In the Information for the MR Brachydios Special Arena, it says "He's looking for some chump called "Doodle."" Just thought I should point this out, it's a nice little nod.

I am severely disappointed in this game. The fight with Brachy, is the best I've ever had, however. This does not excuse the worthless attempt at weapon design. He loses 2 of his weapon trees, and may I ask; HOW IS IT ACCEPTABLE TO CHANGE THE GUNLANCE FROM OME MADE OF HIS TAIL AND BACK SPINES, TO A BONE ONE WITH MAYBE A SCALE GLUED TO IT.

hey I'm back just real quick. Well lets get the bad news put of the way first... Slime got nerfed the puddles he makes are smaller and it seems like he has to lick his arms more often maybe his slime "runs out quicker" whatever that means, he as also lost the ability to use the underground explosion move from what we saw, and I'm not sure on this one as i haven't played a old world game in ages but i swear he's smaller then before i don't know that might just be me. Anyway the good news we got some good stuff here... His overall speed seems to slightly increase many of his attacks do combo into each other more, his slime attacks might do more damage but i don't know on that, anyways his looks i guess look shinier... that's not useful however, back on point now he also seems to be almost canonically stronger like in his fight with azure rathalos he does the deviljho slam now so that's cool. Thats really about it now just wanted to say that stuff because brachydios is amazing and cool, that's it... oh one more thing tho... The water god as risen from the depts... also glav great sword...
