Ebony Odogaron Combat Info

  • Kinsect Extracts:
    • Red: Head/Forelegs
    • Orange: Body/Tail
    • White: Hindlegs
  • Enraged mode: protracts its second set of claws, greatly increased speed
  • You can obtain shiny drops by attacking the tail and head.
  • Attacks with red lightning inflicting mhw dragon damage sDragon damage, Dragonproof Mantle can be used to negate a part of this damage and nullify dragonblight severe mhw status efectDragonblight.

Combat Tactics for Ebody Odogaron

  • The Ebony Odogaron likes to jump around by taking advantage of the environment. Watch out for when it's doing it in quick succession.
  • As it tries to run around in combat, try to look for an opening to mount in when not in enraged state. You can identify its state by looking at the minimap. The Red Eye Icon means enraged and Yellow Eye means engaged in combat.
  • If you're fighting it in Coral Highlands, look around you and use the ledges if there's any nearby. These are useful to make mounting easier.
  • Use a Clutch Claw, aim for the head, and Flinch Shot it while facing a wall so it will run forward and slam its head.
  • The Ebony Odogaron deals Dragon-based damage that can nullify any elemental damage from your weapons.
  • Don't stand right in front of its face but aim for the head if possible. Your second target should be the tail.
  • Just like the standard Odogaron, the Ebony Odogaron can deal Bleeding ailment in addition to Dragonblight.
  • Try and keep the Ebony Odogaron from eating mid-combat. It goes into a frenzy right after eating and will make him more unpredictable in combat.
  • The Ebony Odogaron can shoot out energized dragon orbs from its mouth while in frenzy. You can try to shorten this period by hitting its head, however, if you get hit by the orb, it can nullify your elemental attacks. You have to be careful not to get hit while aiming for its head. It's ideal to do this from a distance, or do it only if you're super confident with your movement.

Used to fight Clifford in mhw arena to train myself at different weapons (Event quest "A rush of blood") so to be honest, this guy isn't much different. If you run an elemental build, his dragonblight will be annoying, especially with how it hits through the temporal mantle. But it's trivialize by just running a raw damage setup. Overall, it's just odogaron with a few extra moves where there would be pauses. At least the armor looks cool.

If you got used to handling pre-MR Odog, then this is going to be stupid easy.for you and will just feel like a pointless reskin. Even easier cause you're in the coral place and there's plenty of room for you to be able to dodge him.

Man I completely forgot how good the HR and LR Armor looks!! I really need to get that as layered

            fun facts
            - it looks like a shark when u get a semi-top view
            - it teleports (but that could be lag or its insane speed)
            - i wish it had more fan art
            - his roar (along with his weaker cousin) seems to be just the combination of a screaming person and a squealing pig.
            - to put it in words it would not just be a skinless dog, but a skinless dog with necrosis.

When you get good at using the environment to jump attack the monsters multiple times in quick sucession you can mount them repeatedly. In my first battle against Ebony Odogaron at the coral highlands i was able to mount it six times using the ledges to roll off and hanging onto the vines to leap through the air using the circle button for the extra hang time you get.

i think this abnodation is trained by deviljho and runnier nerggigante also a demon samurai coming for revenge

                • Anonymous

this thing is fairly easy, the hard time is when he jump and use the dragon thing on me, other than that, he's pretty slow

so when i was watching his intro i see odogaron and he looked like he was going to attack me so i said hey your dads here!! and then it showed ebony i said: CALLED IT and my little brother said: wow it is his dad lol

                    • Hello my fellow hunters, mortals seem to be having a problem with this monster so I thought I could shed some light on some forbidden tips. This monster as said by somebody below is a pretty fair fight, no one shots, no crappy aliments just you verses speed itself. most of his attacks can be easily dodged, I use the hammer and I could roll, dodge his attacks and donk him with my chunky stick. Tendirze on his face also works well because this subspecies uses his claws and tail more than his feet. Anyway my dads yelling at me to go to sleep so good luck my fellow hunters. (P.S If your having any trouble please comment below I and will do my best to help).

for the record i dont recall ever being hit by bleed from this guy. Either he doesnt have any bleed, or its just so rare to be hit its not worth prepping for.

it really looks like an odogoran from hell back for revenge, or maybe an odogoran that got taught by savage devilijho

Definitely one of the most enjoyable fights in the game. No annoying gimmics, no one-hit kills, just you vs The Edgiest Boi. Good stuff.

Great Jagras: I must swallow as much food as possible to feed my underlings.... Great Girros: Protect me, underling! Dodogama: I eat rock.

This is the Odogaron. Watch it run in slow motion. It's pretty badass. Look. It runs all over the place. "Whoa! Watch out!" says that Legiana. Eew, it's got a snake! Oh! It's chasing a Radobaan! Oh my gosh! Oh, the Odogaron is just crazy! The Odogaron has been referred to by the Guiness Book of World Records as the most fearless monster in the monster hunter world. It really doesn't give a*****. If it's hungry, it's hungry. Eew! What's that in its mouth? Oh, it's got a Girros? Oh, it runs backwards? Now watch this: look a Tzi-tzi Yaku's up in the tree. Odogaron don't care. It just takes what it wants. Whenever it's hungry it just -- Eew, and it eats, Hornetaurs, Vespoids,... Watch it dig! Look at that digging. The Odogaron is really pretty badass. It has no regard for any other monster whatsoever. Look at him, he's just grunting, and eating Nargacugas. Eew! What's that? A Vaal Hazak? Oh that's nasty. They're so nasty. Oh look it's chasing things and eating them. The Odogarons have a fairly long body, but a distinctly thickset broad shoulders, and, you know, their skin is loose, allowing them to move about freely, and they twist around. Now look: Here's a nest full of Vespoids. Do you think the Odogaron cares? It doesn't give a*****, it goes right into the house of Vespoids to get some larvae. How disgusting is that? It eats larvae. Eew, that's so nasty. But look! The Odogaron doesn't care! It's getting stung like a thousand times. It doesn't give a*****. It's just hungry. It doesn't care about being stung by Vespoids. Nothing can stop the Odogaron when it's hungry. What a crazy *****! Look, it's eating larvae, that's disgusting. It's running in slow-motion again. See? Now, what's interesting is that other monsters like these Legianas here, they just wait around until the Odogaron is done eating, and then it swoops in to pick up the scraps. It says, "You do all the work for us, Odogaron, and we'll just eat whatever you find, how's that? What'daya say, stupid?" Look at this Legiana: "Thanks for the treat, stupid!" "Hey, come back here," says the Odogaron. Legianas don't care, and you know what? The Radobaans do it too. Look at these little Paolumus. They're like "Thanks stupid! Thanks for the mouse! See you later." The Odogaron does all the work and all these other animals just pick up the scraps. At nightime the Odogaron goes hunting, because it's hungry. Look! Here comes a fierce battle between a Bazelgeuse and an Odogaron. I wonder what will happen? Look at this, there's the Odogaron just eating a Jagras, and then look, "Get away from me!" says the Radobaan, "Get away from me!" Odogaron don't care. Odogaron smacks the***** out of it. And the Radobaan comes back and it lashes at the Odogaron. Oh, little does the Odogaron know, FYI: it's been stung! It's been bitten by the Tobi Kadachi, so while it's eating the Tobi Kadachi -- eew, that's disgusting -- all the poisonous venom is seeping through the Odogaron's body, and it passes out. Look at that sleepy *****. Now the Odogaron is going to pass out for a few minutes, and then it's going to get right back up and start eating all over again, because it's a hungry little bastard. Look at this! Like nothing happened! The Odogaron gets right back up and continues eating Legianas. How disgusting.

Not a great monster to follow round for tracks in the guiding lands since it tends to always be carrying meat in it's mouth the only thing you'll get is the occasional footprint tracks. ^-^

On the armor set, it seems to have some nice skills, Crit Chance and Latent Power are rarely bad, the Dragon attack is nice, btu HOLY***** why is it weak to EVRYTHING except dragon? Christ above.

                                      • Anonymous

a piece of advice: use an elemental weapon to break its face if u want its fangs, I first fought it using narga lance, didnt break. Second fight, I used brach lance, surprisingly not even blast could break it. I farmed the coral pukei lance and within literal seconds of the fight I broke it. Good luck with the hardfangs!

OH HEY LOOK!!! it's Stygian Zinogre everybody! ... alright lets do this, hey its me I'm back just did a thing on NEW WATER ELDER DRAGON FINALLY AFTER ALL THIS TIME!!! "ahem" sorry... I uh... haven't fought Ceadeus or Amatsu in about 10 years or something like that... (i just looked it up and its release date was the 10th of December, 2011) this was pointless lets get on with it. Okay Stygian Odogaron uhhh well his armor, weapons, and some small tid bits are already out, I believe they where shown an Comic Con this year but I don't remember, (I have memory loss, please forgive me). Weapon stats will most likely be anywhere from 90 to 300 Dragon damage with low to medium Elder Steal (I don't see high Elder Steal on his weapons being a thing). Armor stats will (hopefully) be like the Odogaron Alpha with Critical Eye and maybe add some Weakness Exploit or Dragon Attack Up, most likely going to keep the Speed Eating and Bleed Resistance, (I'm only saying this because I want this armor set to be useful, Im looking at you Kaser Gamma). Now for the fight itself... ah*****, here we go again... well its just normal Odo but with more combo moves and projectiles... will still have Bleeding, but now has Dragon projectiles... nothing really special... Weaknesses and such are most likely going to be Dragon because this is Pokemon now, Fire or Thunder as well because why not, just look at Stygian Zingore or Deviljho, or just about any monster that can use Dragon Element, critical spots will be the same also. Now about the monster itself and how it fights compared to normal Odo, so he uses more sweeping attacks now, he has projectiles like I said earlier, he will always start out in his Frenzy Mode, and he also can cripple you with SPAM now... bet he will... alright now I'm not sure but I think they said that he is a roamer now and that he has A LOT more turf wars but again I am not sure, (I have memory loss, please forgive me). Anyways that's it for me I need some sleep, college is really *****ing me up this year and I don't know why, anyways later. One more thing, does anyone find it odd how Odo is immune to the effects of Dragon and yet he has been almost corrupted by the element? Maybe its just me.

Aaaahhhh. Odogaron, my old foe. My rival. I can’t wait for Iceborne to come to PC so that I can get a new set of armor. Or armour. However you wish to spell it.

Let’s hope these new attacks don’t have such a large range they sweep the *****ing floor with everyone nearby.
