Lavasioth Combat Tactics MH: World
Lavasioth, an aquatic wyvern, is recognized for its molten scales and hardened armor, dwelling in the fiery depths of Elder's Recess. Adapted to the searing heat, Lavasioth can swim through magma and emerges to the surface, coated in a layer of molten rock that serves as both protection and a formidable weapon.
Encounters with Lavasioth are marked by its ability to spit fiery projectiles and engage in swift, molten-fueled attacks. The wyvern's presence in the scorching depths showcases its proficiency in navigating the searing environment, making it a formidable adversary with its unique adaptations and fiery arsenal.
Hunters should target the head and underbelly, identified as vulnerable areas. It is equipped with a magma layer that deflects attacks when cooled. To remedy this, apply Fire damage, utilizing slinger Torch Pods found in Lavasioth's locations. Alternatively, wait for Lavasioth to swim through magma, naturally softening its defenses.
To streamline your approach, equip your Palico or Kinsect with Fire weapons. This allows you to concentrate on carrying the most effective Water setup for maximizing damage.
Exercise caution with melee attacks unless you have specific tactics for softening the magma or attacking through it, such as employing abilities like Mind's Eye Ballistics or Spirit slash from Long Swords.

- Magma Burst: Lavasioth releases a burst of molten magma around itself, creating a hazardous area. Hunters need to maintain awareness of their positioning and avoid the magma burst to prevent taking damage.
- Tail Swipe: Lavasioth swings its tail in a sweeping motion, creating a wide arc of molten attacks. Timing dodges to avoid the tail swipe is essential to prevent being knocked back or taking damage.
- Lava Pool Eruption: Lavasioth can create temporary lava pools on the ground. These pools erupt, causing damage over time to hunters standing in the vicinity. Avoiding the erupting pools is crucial for survival.
- Burning Projectiles: Lavasioth spits burning projectiles that leave patches of fire on the ground. Hunters need to navigate around these fiery areas to avoid taking additional damage.

Other than the Lavasioth Greaves Beta, you have no reason to fight him.

These things are massive! I was fighting it in the guiding land to level up my MR and I was sure it was a large gold crown. When I finished, it wasn't even a silver crown!

Over my 2000 hours in this game i never fought this monster never had any reason too and most likely never will

fun fact: this guy came from monster hunter frontier, then later put into monster hunter freedom unite

avoid fighting him if you can, unless you are prepared to be running after him during the whole fight. really annoying matchup for melee.

hmmm I don't know if I hate this guy or just annoyed. I mean he's no where near my top favorite monsters but he ain't that annoying since he just covers the lava area in the elder recess and the guidings lands so if you fight something that doesn't go there then you barely know its even there. His fight is somewhat more enjoyable than Jyura's But still doesn't change the fact that when his skin hardens it will deflect your attacks so you have to consistently get torch pods or wait for him to go back in the lava. Sooooo honestly I just feel meh with this guy.

I hate you. I hope you die. You’re f*cking annoying. Nobody likes you. Your creation was a mistake. You’re trash. You’re only the replacement for good clickity clack clack. I would say “die in a fire” but that wouldn’t work so f*ck you anyway. I never hunt you because you’re anti-fun. I wish you were the one getting f*cked by Behemoth instead of best boi. You’re ugly. You f*ckin’ f*cker f*ck, f*ck off, go f*ck yourself, and don’t ever show your face to me again because it makes me want to kill myself. The only good thing I have to say about you is that you’re not the worst fight, Kushala is however BUT AT LEAST HE LOOKS COOL AND HAS COOL LORE TO BACK HIMSELF UP YOU PATHETIC EXCUSE OF A MONSTER!!!!!!!! You don’t deserve to be in the Guiding Lands but if you weren’t the lowest levels of the vulcanic region wouldn’t have enough monsters to be initially interesting. At least your equally stupid sub-species didn’t make it there. But the only difference between you two is that that fish uses mud instead of lava. You’re a fish that swims through lava, but guess what; I have Heat Gaurd so I can also rub my face all on that magma. YOU’RE NOT SPECIAL, DOUCHEBAG!!!!!!!!!

In the first artbook, this monster was labeled as the “lava plesioth” NOT the “lava jyuratodus”
- Anonymous
At least he is not swimming under the lava 50% of the time like in the older games

This guy reminds me of dat mudskipper boi in wildspire waste

Can't get the mini-crown from this guy, compared to every other monster I have gotten it in a reasonable amount of hunte, not Lavasioth smh
- Anonymous
Is no one gonna talk about how this thing has barely any weapons? Sheesh-
Memes aside, I found this guy somewhat easier than his mud bathing brother. He doesn't "swim" as much (at least when I fight him) which greatly limits his move set. I'd hate to sound like a broken record but, CUT THE TAIL, BREAK THE FACE!
OCEAN MAN? TAKE ME BY THE HAND STRAIGHT INTO THE LAND? THAT YOU UNDERSTAND?

Tempered Solo (For "My name is Lavi!" of course) with the Tarroth Strongarm Water just for science. Was pleasantly surprised by the water phial damage and with with CB's on-board Minds Eye ability, and I "accidentally" killed it (no torch pods) before he had managed to drop about half of what you normally score by just sweeping-up decos between his fleeing phases...minor-groaner on the shiny loss, but gained a new favorite Lavi-whacker. This thing is also amazing for solo runs on AT Teo for farming Gleaming Aug Stones. -and you get to even demoralize it by dropping witty***** like "Welcome to Noah's Ark *****!". Wasn't an elemental CB fan before this drop.

*Shows Jyuratodus* This is your brain. Now this is your brain... *Shows Lavasioth* on drugs.

For those comparing this to jyuratodus, actually lavasioth existed ~ 10 years before jyura, as he was part of the older games, unlike jyuratodus.

replace this monster with with agnaktor, the world would be a better place without him

Does anybody just think of a fiery-jyuratodus when they see this thing?

his charged lava blast is ABSURD, HUGE AOE AND MASSIVE damage... at least its well telegraphed and slow...
- Anonymous
what's up with the in game weakness chart, is it 1 star weak to fire when hardened or 2 star? if 2 then it must be 5 star weak to water, so a cup should kill it like an M. Knight Shyamalan alien...
