Lunastra Combat Info

  • Deals mhw fire damage sFire Damage
  • Is immune to mhw fire damage sFire
  • Weak to mhw ice damage sIce and mhw dragon damage sDragon Damage
  • Moderately weak to stun iconStun and mhw blast icon Blast Damage
  • The Head, Wings and Tail are the weak spots.
  • Using the Fireproof Mantle  is recommended for this fight.
  • Combat tactics: Blue flames do not apply fire blight, but they do heat damage. Lunastra heats the air around her enough that cool drinks are required to prevent damage from the air. Her supernova attack has very large range and blasts twice. There is a special bond move where she combines her blast with Teostra to blast three times with a larger range and damage. Use Astera Jerkey after her first nova blast to heal red health on your bar and increase recovery. If Nergigante appears there is a rare turf war that does approximately 2000 damage to Lunastra. Kushala Daora can also have a turf war with her that does approximately 3000 damage to both participants. Use these to your advantage when fighting  her.
  • Aim for her wings when she is downed if using a sever damaging weapon, which is her highest weak-point for those types of weapons while using blunt for head. While standing it is best to use a blunt weapon on her head or ammo on her tail. if using a sever weapon while standing her wings can be struck, but for low reaching weapons its best to attack hind legs for the hit zone values there are higher then the rest of her ground level body parts until she is downed.
  • Lunastra's high body temperature and dust saps away health unless you use a Cool Drink,  Heat Guard skill, and/or Fireproof mantle. Its dust and blue flame explode when it comes into contact with Fire, so use a bomb or Crystalburst.
  • On top of shielding you from Lunastra's heat aura, Heat Guard will also protect you from the puddles of fire it puts on the floor, but it will not protect you from fireblight status effect mhwFireblight.
  • Using Flash Pods against Lunastra will not force her to plummet from the sky. It will also cause her to use supernova if she is charged with her aura. However, using Flash Pods don't always cause her to do this, occasionally (and always when mounted) she will flinch or be blinded but not use her ultimate.

MHW Lunastra Combat Tips

Lunastra, the female counterpart to Teostra, stands out with her striking features—vibrant red wings, longer and thinner horns, yellow teeth, and wingtalons. She possesses leonine characteristics, boasting a prominent mane, large fangs, and a distinctive crown-like crest. Lunastra's wings are adorned with fur, presenting a cool coloration.

In battle, Lunastra strategically spreads blue powder on the ground, igniting into damaging blue flames upon contact with fire. This flame inflicts slow damage and health drain on those without heat protection, even in areas not typically requiring it. Using her wings, Lunastra disperses this powder, creating a wind that momentarily immobilizes hunters. Fire attacks meeting the blue flames result in more damage and intensified wind. Skilled hunters can extinguish the blue flames using water weapons. Lunastra is also capable of unleashing a massive heat wave, rapidly draining the health of those within its range, accompanied by widespread blue fire and challenging wind pressure.

Consider these additional tips to enhance your strategy in this encounter:

  • To break Lunastra's horns, you'll need weapons imbued with the Dragon Element.
  • Lunastra loses its flame aura when poisoned, similar to Teostra.
  • To block Lunastra's imposing roar, you'll need the Earplugs skill.

I beat AT Luna last night first attempt with no deaths playing hunting horn in non-augmented base game gear. Granted it took me 40 minutes but Luna isn't as bad as everyone says she is. Play smart and build a gear set for her.

Yes I think her moves are annoying, they're fast, they have little windup. Those fanned flames have outrageous hitboxes that send you flying. However, at the same time, I think she is a really cool monster and has one of the coolest fights in the game. The first time fighting her in the arena with gunlance was awesome. Maybe MHFU built in me a resistance to bullshit (Plesioth hip check) but the fight is a nice change of pace.

If you're patient and able to get comfortable with the fight, you can find openings on her. Also, heat guard is nice because it blocks ignited pool damage. Note that nothing will stop shining ignited pool damage though. Once you know the fight, I suspect you can build for damage instead of survivability and get fast KOs to make it easier. That'll be hard though lol. Anyway, don't give up and happy hunting!

No one, NO ONE, has noticed how fast this bullsheiße monster is, especially compare to Teostra?

Her moves have little to no windup, flames everywhere, sends fiery winds too fast to react even if you dodged the main attack.

Her nova is super strong but with astera jerky + fireproof mantle you can tank it. The main problem about this monster is its speed. It's faster in its base state than teostra in its enraged state! Absolute bullsheiße.

        • Anonymous

even with early MR gear when fighting her and her husband on the quest to get the temporal mantle shes still VERY annoying to fight, so please prepare mentally for the fight thats my tip

          • Anonymous

This elder dragon takes the sheer annoyance of having to fight Daora and mixes it with the non-stop pestering of an azure rathalos. Dear LORD I hate this monster, you'd be lucky to go ten seconds without this jacka** using some nova attack, Flying, or just straight uo setting the ground underneath you on fire. Good luck fighting this thing with a heavy weapon, lol. You are NOT gonna get far. The fact that you even have to fight this thing more than once should be considered a crime against humanity AND technology, considering how hard I'll throw my controller if she sets me on fire and stuns me ONE MORE TIME. Just like teostra, this freak moves its head way too much when it's knocked out, so good luck getting your big bang combo, hammer users. Just make sure you bring a fireproof mantle and a smaller one for everyone around you considering how red hot with rage you'll be when you try hitting her head for the 50th time only for it to be blocked by her wings or flailing paws. Honestly the most soul draining fight in the base game.

I don’t like having Lunastra setting the floor on fire while a nergi is screaming its head off 5 times in a row.

I wish to rip this things horns off and use it it cut off all there limbs and eyes out and watch to bleed to death……sorry needed to get that out of my system

Tried the Arch-tempered in high-rank with 1080 base defense and 40 in fire defense and it was somewhat manageable

I believe the main skills required are:
                    Fire Rez
                    Guard up (CB)
                    Guard 1 (CB)
                    Equipment:
                    Temporal mantle
                    Fireproof mantle
While Fighting try to stay near the right side inbetween the legs of the dragon (more towards the back legs) and pray!

I think this monster is just perfect. But I think there are improvements they can make. Firstly I will make every tick of supernova damage oneshot you. Then they should make her rorar stun you for even longer. After that I would put her in the quest where you have to kill 3 lunastras and they would always follow each other. And finally I would make her every dash just straight up a teleport that will do half your health and stun you. And then the boss will probably be how they wanted it in the first place

"Lunastra is more aggressive than Teostra because of the mating seaon." Gonna need a source on that one chief. All evidence so far says that Lunastra is just an *******.

                        • Anonymous

Trash boss, and i though diablos was annoying monster, always burning your hp no matter what, as far as i can tell, she has an unlimited range supernover, pretty sure she's unkillable with any sort of melee weapon, literally the whole floor is blue so you HAVE to take a load of damage to do such a little bit, then if you use a great sword good luck getting 1 hit, she attacks too fast and often for you to even get a normal swing in let alone a true charged one, and how does a variant of teostra have more hp than xeno'jiva just doesn't make sense

                          • Anonymous

how can they justify a variant of teostra having more hp than xenojiva also it doing a constant attack, and im not talking about the burn you can negate with a cooldrink, its just always draining hp and its firenova can hit you no matter where you are in the arena so no good trying to run to a safe distance, using fully upgraded nerg gear, 50 50 food buffs, with m def up, and mega armor drink, and still getting ***** slapped around the arena and running out of time cause you phyisclly can't get close to attack without bascilly 1 shot

                            • Anonymous

FIRE RESISTANCE!!!! That is one of the most important things! Wind resistance really helps to. Ice element or dragon element do well against her. Always bring temporal mantle and/or fire resistance mantle. Health boost and vitality mantle work well too. When it comes to surviving the nova use farcaster to fast travel out of it. If you use a health booster you can place it down and I’m pretty sure Rocksteady mantle works for not getting staggered. If it does work with the health booster have an astera jerky at hand. You can use puddle pods to take out the blue flame. Oh and flash pods are really good against her! It automatically triggers her nova. You can use this to control when she does the nova. Remember don’t give up! Good luck and happy hunting!

Hey how do you unlock her in MR. I haven’t fought her in MR yet and I really want to. I loved fighting her so much in base game I really want to try her in Iceborne. Thank you in advance!

She can combo out of a roar fast so you need earplugs or ridiculously precise dodging, the fire attacks and aura surrounding her are very damaging so you need big fire resistance and heat guard, that supernova has almost twice the range of teostra's explosion, her double tail whip still produces the blue flame in the same area as if her tail isn't cut off even if you cut it off, she spreads that blue flame EVERYWHERE and lingers for quite a while. yea i hate her

                                  • Anonymous

I got to say Luna is one of my favorite fights in the whole game. I mean she has some pretty annoying moves but it’s still fun. And I haven’t tried it yet but I think you can farcaster out of the nova. I’m not sure. I don’t really have any tips for her yet (sorry guys) but maybe later. Have a good day

There is incorrect information on this wiki. Heat Guard does not nullify the damage of her fire pools on the floor. It seems that there is nothing that can prevent those infernal pools of fire from harming you.

I started the pandoras arena quest, and literally failed in less than 2 minutes. I'm a hammer main, and it was a literal nightmare. Does anyone have any tips?

just bought iceborne and this was one if the first things i decided to fight. made eight attempts. yeah thanks, i think ill quit the game now. more money gone to waste lol

                                          • Anonymous

Such a shitty design. No skill or intelligence to her nova attack. Just lights the whole f**king place up and deletes you. No projectiles to dodge, or puddles to avoid (although they're there), you just take mega loads of damage for no rhyme or reason. Garbage design.

                                            • Anonymous

Water weapons can dispel the flame spots, so do puddle pods and for some reason crystalburst.

Fireproof mantle makes her nova laughable and if you have it, heat guard makes a massive difference.

If you don't have a fireproof mantle, well timed dives can minimize the damage her nova does, or you can run into a flame spot, this will knock you down, you can then stay down and be safe from most of the damage. Do note that this will still damage you some, so if you have low health it's safer to attempt to dive through it.

Attacking her head is relatively safe as her flame breath attacks have a big tell, just be wary of her claw attacks and dash attack.

It should be worth noting that her wings take the most cutting damage. If she's downed and you're using a cutting weapon, you should attacking the wings, if you're a gunner cutting ammo does a lot to the wings, and you're not restricted to topples to deal big damage to the wings so go crazy.

Flashing her tends to force her nova. If you're playing solo you can run and flash her while running away. Most of the time this gives you enough time to get away from her nova. If you plan on doing this in multiplayer make sure you warn your teammates.

She has almost no attacks that hit her back legs, so that's a very safe place to attack. Just note that cutting damage is very low back here.

You can actually get gems from shinies so if you're grinding go for every shiny you see.

Those are just some tips for everyone. Feel free to add more in the replies, so everyone can benefit. Preperation is key when it comes to lunastra!

"Lunastra is more aggressive than Teostra because of the mating season."

Poor Teostra, to think that he has to deal with this kind of s*** every single day, dude has it rough.

Ok seriously no joke. I have almost never fought Lunastra in Iceborne since she wasn't in my main quests I do, and also partially because I don't like fighting her. What I meant by "almost never" I mean I literally only fought her once in Iceborne. And what quest you may ask? Well it's non other then the temperd Lunastra Seliana event quest fight ofc. Finished the quest with other players and almost failed. Also I heard (actually saw it on online when I saw another person playing) that there is a optional quest for Lunastra master rank 6. How do I get it?

So I understand that Lunastra's basically immune to Flash Pods, but is she also immune to Dung Pods? I slowly shot a full magazine of Dung Pods at her in the Guiding Lands and it did nothing. She wasn't enraged, wasn't even in full heat-up. Just a big stinky girl flailing around stupidly, preventing me from finishing my capture of another monster.

                                                        MR Lunastra is added....

MR Lunastra: "The fu*k did you say to me you little sh*t!?"

I have fought Lunastra with my friend, and my god was it much easier than alone, but still a pain. Lunastras nova attack can sometiems leave you with a sliver of health (If you are lucky enough). I thought Lunastra was gonna be easier, oh boy was i wrong.

I hate that she's just immune to clash pods... for NO reason. there isn't even a lore reason she's just immune because "***** you"

And again we see a really cool (or hot) monster completely ruined by the fight. Tempered MR Lunastra is the worst thing I’ve ever encountered in this game. An absolute nightmare of a fight. Maybe I’m just being bitter and making it sound worse than it really is, but still... I’m not ever gonna fight her again unless I really need to.

While I see a bunch of people here complaining about the nova, my complaint is the the knockdown and stun spam.... like Serriously, I can’t get up half the time. It’s like I’m playing street fighter and my opponent knows how to infinite my ass into the air. I mean even with recovery protection being a part of the game I just,,,, Ugh.... also, for those of you who don’t want to deal with the nova, just bring a dragon weapon and bump it’s elder seal up. No dust means you can hammer away, prevent her from nova Ing and it SEEMS to reduce her damage out put (note this is not confirmed, just something I noticed when I should’ve died like 5 times but didn’t and she had no nova dust due to dragonseal.

                                                                • Anonymous

Guys, is it just me or does Lunastra's roar immobilze you for a longer time than other mosnters major roar?

                                                                  • Anonymous

For charge blade users ( I'm putting this because no one else would), get gigafrost 2 with ice charm and two pieces of Kushala's armor (head and coil). This part can help with anyone else, hit her with the boulder trap then the dragonater the finally another boulder trap. Might not repel her but does help. This is for Pandora's Arena.

                                                                    • Tip for beating Lunastra/Teostra quest, solo (Assumming you can solo each of them) - Pull Lunastra to a different area from Teostra and beat her first. Because Teostra is passive while Lunastra aggressive, you can fight her without her mate noticing. - In case you hear a loud unique roar while fighting Lunastra, that's Teostra coming in that exact area to help. As said above, while Teostra is flying to that area, pull Lunastra away, again. Rinse and repeat until Lunastra fly to the pair's nest to sleep. It's might sound tedious, but if you're not up to dealing with them both, you should do this. - When Lunastra's resting, Teostra will be there to guard her. If you did the two steps above correct, Teostra will still, jokingly, be passive toward you until Lunastra take a hit. So time that hit right, this should be the only time you're fighting them both.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Some tips for those who are struggling: Bring Jerky. Lunastra's heat damage isn't like taking a hit, it always leaves your red health alone, and jerky will always heal all of your red health. During the supernova if you eat a jerky before you die, you'll be put right back to the health you had when it started. Use your fireproof mantle wisely: Lunastra's normal attacks aren't really that impressive damage wise. The only ones that do significant damage will have an obvious tell like her flame breath. As such save the mantle for when she starts violently glowing. That indicates her supernova is ready to go off at a moments notice. Your mantle will severely weaken the supernova more than anything else so don't waste it soaking up the weak attacks. Lastly her stomach is a big blind spot for her except if she does her run attack. If you aren't aiming for part breaks then stick to her stomach and chip away at her. If all else fails use a farcaster. Better to fall back and restock than take a ride there on a cart.

                                                                        • Anonymous

Just beat the Teostra + Lunastra quest on my second attempt, took me arounnd 40 minutes. Used Snowfletcher bow + full alfa Legiana set for Lunastra weakness to ice. I had to play around them moving together until they split up, then focused on the Teostra and farcasted away when Luna came. Eventually Teostra went to sleep at nest, chased after him and killed him there. Then i only had to 1v1 the Lunastra, which is still no easy task, but i agree with the bull*****that is her nova. However, with the usage of farcasters and playing defensively, i manages to beat her. She is so aggressive and agile, so much worse than any other elder dragon, she really likes to aggro you for far longer than any other monster, even ignoring your palico, while you try to heal. She's a pain in the ass, not an enjoyable monster at all, and all for a horrible looking armor set.

                                                                          • Anonymous

Yeah lets make her a lot harder in MR by spamming her nuke every *****ing 10 seconds. Thank god you didnt add that ***** in Assigned quests.

                                                                            • Anonymous

She really isn't that bad once you know that you can force her to nuke by flashing her. Once she has her full cloak just flash her from as far away as you can then move further away, you should take little to no damage from the nuke then no longer have to worry about her worst attack. (This might only apply to MR, i just found this out a few days ago and haven't tested it on HR)

                                                                              • Anonymous

Thank you guiding lands for infinite death. Tempered Lunastra fight is even worst than Rajang. Her supernova attack is just bull*****and her normal aoe will kill you eventually. I need her fellwings which in the book says 3 star drop but I never got one. fuk me I so mad need to write this and share here.

                                                                                • Anonymous

Well, the problem of Lunastra is not her damage or her supernova. You see, its kinda like Behemoth - you just need to LEARN how to deal with that and it becomes much easier. The real problem of Luna is her awful weakspots+her crazy speed. You see, she has tail, face and wings weakspots, but she moves so fast, and attacks so much that you don’t have even 0,5 sec to hit her right in the face. She WILL hit you faster. Its not a matter of skill. If she have a little shiny weakspot on her rear legs, for example, the fight would be muuuch easier. The best way to beat her is to cheese her with ko-chain with slugger. Take GS, get her near the ledge, put some bombs and then ledgehop till death. In perfect situation she will die before she can even get up. The problem is IF she will get up and hit you it will be extremely hard to repeat the process. Its a cheese tactics but it can work. You will struggle fighting her «fair» because she IS unfair. Any exploit cheat tactics like clustering, ledgehoping or bow ko-chain will work. The fair fight - forget, the monster is hardly unbalanced

                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Anonymous

AT elder dragons are literally a joke to kill, this thing is so fcking unbalanced whit a cheap moveset. The fight is a constant bullsh1t , the supernova can't be even avoided.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                        • Anonymous

{RANT INCOMING - ***Nitty Gritty at the end if you wanna skip***} Okay so this is Sir Rant-A-Lot here again about to lay some rage for a sec. ***** you whoever designed Lunastra this way, you need to get some therapy and calm the ***** down with this bull*****I was only annoyed with normal Luna as she was, but Arch Tempered Luna is just awful. All you did was increase the heat damage to the point that now we're fighting basically Dreadqueen Rathian with her Deadly Poison that can cart a player in under 10 seconds if not treated immediately. But at least with her you didn't have wind effects trying to stop you from living. I swear to god if I have to use a single armor set, for a single monster to be actually fair, then what in the ***** is this game anymore? Before all you had to do was have good positioning, a weapon you're proficient with, health potions, and some whetstones cause no infinite whetstone items in previous games. You really didn't need a whole lot. Besides defense, but getting better defense wasn't a pain to get and hell it's not impossible to fight things with lower defense just a hell of a lot harder but that's another topic. Point being I shouldn't have to grind my life away on an armor set I will only use for this one monster, these few times, that I don't even really like the skills on it at all. I pick armor based on the skills it has. If I like or want to try out that set it's fun to grind for it and see if it's worth while. Not being forced to a meta of "Well you have to have A,B,C, and D in your set to make her doable." Are you *****ing kidding me? Here's a comparable example: "You have to eat nothing but Grilled Chicken, Drink plain water, with a side of broccoli or some other steamed veggie, no salt, and you have to eat it all with a fork to be able to continue living today." (Caps alert) Maybe I want a steak today, maybe I want soup, maybe I want to use a spoon or knife for my food, maybe I want a soda or alcoholic beverage, maybe I just wanna go *****ing caveman style and eat the GOD DAMN STEAK WITH MY MAN FINGERS, BARELY CHEWING, AND SWALLOW MOST OF IT WHOLE! Maybe I don't wanna eat that day. Maybe I wanted to sleep in a little longer before running off to start my day. I shouldn't be held down by a single format to perform a certain task. The idea of monster hunter is variety in it's core. From weapon design, to skills, to monster variety, monster attacks and combos, elements, even the choice of weapons is varied with a total of 14 current weapons to choose from to go through the game with. So explain to me why is it at the end of this game filled with choices and variation, is it only End Game Content is seemingly the most forced cookie cutter experience by far? And sure you can say "Well you can do it your way it's possible!" Getting shot in both knees, the chest cavity thrice, and both hands at the same time is possible to survive, but is it really how you want things to go? Wouldn't you have rather not got shot in the first place? That's how I feel. I want to love this game and currently I do because when players are left with their own choices to make as to how to take on a monster it's great. But AT Luna is slowly killing my drive. I can only hope a G-Rank/Master Rank version of her fixes her bull*****As if from what I've been told previously, they do increase the damage but they change up how the monster moves and reacts to the point you don't know what it'll throw at you next. New moves and different combos is the way to make a game more difficult. Not throwing more damage at the player and making them eat through more health than before. ***** I can do that with mods man I don't need the devs to be so lazy for me. Put in some god damn work and make things right. {Rant Over Here's the Nitty Gritty} 1. I just need this pain train to stop. Maybe you guys enjoy being ass*****ed raw, no lube, by a horse that has no chill, but I don't. I like a game to be difficult because of real difficulty. Not just increase in number stats. 2. To the Devs I recommend pushing out G-Rank/Master Rank Properly as it should be and quickly because this PC delay***** is also aggravating as it shouldn't take 7 months to port over things you've already made. 3. For those who believe the game is too easy, go play previous monster hunter games where the game isn't as forgiving in animations and difficulty. Or go play Dark Souls or whatever game you think is harder if you don't like this one. Hell just go mod the ***** out of MHW and shut the ***** up because you're honestly ruining the experience for other gamers. Clearly the devs don't care if you mod so go whine to the mod community about making one so your little pain-slut butthole desires can be filled properly. Thanks for reading I really tried to not write a novel on this***** but I like details and I hope some of you guys do too. Anyways, enjoy, or not. At least I warned you this time. I will likely be back when Master Rank Lunastra arrives. Until next time~

                                                                                              • Anonymous

If you have reach you can hit her weak spots while she's flailing around, and eventually she'll fall down.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

I mean I guess it's my fault for playing gunlance, which isn't very mobile, but that heat wind attack is absolutely brutal and even if I get out of it alive I've taken so much damage. I guess I should swap to ranged weapons, but never really liked how little damage they seem to do... I can't wait to face her tempered form...

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

*The following is my personal experience and thoughts on the monster and design around it. This is just one of many opinions here. Thank you for reading~* (My initial thoughts) The initial repel quest wasn't needed. The difficulty spike of the normal Elder Dragons versus Lunastra is a bit unreal. And not only that, but the fact we were forced to attempt to repel her in the special arena which mind you is roughly the size of her nova, AND in under 15 minutes? Disgusting. I myself am fairly seasoned with a little over 600+ hours of monster hunter and know how to dodge, evade, time my strikes even against new monsters. And I won't lie, I do not mind her super aggressive nature to the player as it reminds me of Nergigante when you initially fight him. My real issue is the damage the nova does, yes it should be powerful, but not powerful enough to potentially one shot a player at full health. Especially when you add wind effects to stagger players attempting to drink mega potions like Gatorade. If I wanted to build a specific armor set around ONE monster I would just go fight Kirin as I hate that guy with a passion. It's hilarious being essentially a kelbi as an elder dragon, but beyond that I dislike the design. even with world's improvements upon it. Also my hunting buddy who has played thousands of hours of monster hunter through out the series had issues with Lunastra. He even compared her to being almost a light G-Rank monster and THAT'S saying something! (Thoughts after a few hunts against Lunastra) Her aggressive nature is challenging but that's okay as the challenge and thrill of it is the whole point right? Learning her patterns and then smashing her down over and over until she limps off to her husbands hideout in the Elder's Recess. However, I still have a slight issue with the damage that comes off a normal Lunastra. Maybe if she was tempered or arch tempered I could at least understand it. But the fact this is the base game version of her is a tad ridiculous. BUT at least now I am more knowledgeable and experienced with her to be able to anticipate and time her nova. While I don't have an exact time frame of her nova, I know it pops off much slower seemingly than Teostra so that's something. I will also say that after getting 3 pieces of equipment to help against her helps against at least somewhat surviving her nuke. Firstly, Rocksteady is fantastic when used right. Negates knockbacks, gives earplugs, reduces damage, but most importantly negates wind effects. So throwing rocksteady on right before she pops will keep you at least standing so you can chug potions and astera jerky as other's have mentioned. The Temporal Mantle also helps with this somewhat as you can essentially adept evade away through her entire nova if you use it right. Temporal auto-evades high damage attacks which counts if you run into those blue flames she produces. Constantly running through them during her nova essentially allows for negating the entire thing when used properly. To get the Temporal Mantle however you still have to suffer through a Teo/Luna quest to get it. But makes farming Lunastra a little easier. And of course as others mention the Fireproof mantle also generally helps over all with heat damage and fire damage from the cancer she spreads everywhere. I will say I don't use heat guard and only gem in fire resist if I have extra slots available. Otherwise, speed eating can generally help as you waste less time chugging one kool-aid and more time chugging multiple kool-aids to survive. Not to mention with her aggressive nature the faster you keep it moving, the less chance she has of stunning you and essentially murdering you. (Final thoughts and equipment) Alright so I'll start with equipment and then end off on my final thoughts. The armor is okay, I do like her legs as they give Level 2 Health Boost AND slots to gem other skills in as well. Always a plus. However, farming her initially is a pain and true struggle. Her weapons I have to admit, are utter garbage aesthetically. They are essentially reskins of the*****tiest weapon designs in world (mind you I am very disappointed in their design overall as they barely vary from monster to monster and shame on you for not providing unique looks to most weapons). And on top of that, they add monster parts as their final upgrades that seem very out of place on the weapon excluding Xeno Jivva which is the only tolerable one in my opinion. However, I do like the idea of a weapon, especially an elder dragon weapon as powerful as this, having a couple variations as it adds not only variety but utility to them. Some prefer better affinity, other builds prefer raw damage, and some prefer elemental damage. I personally like the idea of having an extra skill that gives a weapon that extra boost. I do not, however, like the fact they put nergigante's set bonus as one of them. It is a garbage set bonus that heals less than just waiting to heal with Vaal Hazak's set bonus. Perhaps I am using his skill wrong but it just sucks in my personal opinion. I do like the guts (Moxie if you played previous MH games and know what I mean) skill and the razor sharp skill you can get for these weapons. I prefer razor sharp especially considering the generally good sharpness her weapons have and the weapons I love also drain sharpness very fast (Charge Blade, Switchaxe, Hammer, Longsword). All in all I don't mind most of her fight, it's just her nuke and the fact the fire she spreads has a knockback effect and can STUN you. I love her blue flames design wise and the fact they brought her back from an old monster hunter, I just wish her normal version was more balanced. Make her more of a threat later on as a tempered/arch tempered instead and I think we'll be set difficulty scaling wise. Thank you for reading guys, hope this helped with any tips, insight, or just sharing the pain that is the Nuke. Also Luna (aka: Lunastra) is too pretty of a name for her, I'm going to call her Beth from now on. Beth is a ***** :D

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

Jesus, did they buff her for PC? Rolling with Dante set which has high defense and fire resistance, and her attacks deal a ludicrous amount of damage for something that was a moveset shakeup to Teostra in 4U.

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

Tried arch tempered Lunestra. What a joke, all she does is spam hit and heat up for the 1 shot nuke. She spams it till you get hit, so far casting out is BS. She will wait till you return, or time runs out. Capcom needs to balance this ctap. Behemoth was Easter. This event was a joke. Unless your on the world team as seen on YouTube. These people took out arch temp Lunestra in under 5 min. However no one I have ever seen can work a charge blade like this one guy. Then a icebox, takes her in under 3 min. Don't even consider it. I call BS, Lunestra not one time does her heat nova attack, they bash the crao out of her literally on her side till death. Maybe the key is using a stronger offense so you won't need the defences. Probably why I can't beat here. She appears to be unable to create the super nova, so long you have enough dps to keep her too weak to use So try a really high dmg build and stay on her. Though teostra now makes an appearance in the 1st couple waves so again. Utube is not the best or realistically true for most players.

                                                                                                            • A way to survive her supernova attack: if you get knocked down (or superman dive), do not move or attempt to get up. You don't receive the constant damage from the heat while on the ground.

                                                                                                              • Anonymous

Anybody who doesn't bring Heat Guard to this fight is just a straight-up idiot. Skilled gunners can sometimes get away without having it, even though I don't remember it. It's beatable w/o heat guard for blademasters but why would you even want to? As for her nova: leave the area (if you're close enough to the edge) or - better yet - farcast. I solo'd this ***** tempered in less than 15 minutes. Git gud or go play casual games.

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

Sure she's..."hotter" than Teo. But on the other hand hasn't his explosion element. It could be worse, folks.

                                                                                                                  • Anonymous

So after she does the atom bomb thing, there is this cray heat wave that rapidly depletes your hp. Can somebody explain to me how to dodge this??

                                                                                                                    • Anonymous

Just spent 50 minutes on The Teostra and Lunastra quest only do lose just before I was about to kill lunastra. I have the full nergigante set and rathalos greaves (all fully upgraded up to just after the final boss), max fire resist skill and a health Charm 3 with the +50 health from max potions/meals, oh and the fire proof mantle. My weapon is the insect glaive “lights catastrophe” (the one you get using parts from the final boss) and even with all of this fire resist and defense lunastra can ALMOST one shot me with her aoe. Her tail is bull*****Her tackles are bull*****Her tactical f$@king Nuke is bull*****I can’t really see anything I could’ve done wrong here. I even brought mega barrel bombs for both of them. Might pills too. What kind of cruel, sick joke is this?
