To optimize this bossfight and also to make sure you can do it if you are soloing, you should optimize your build to boost the damage to cannons and ballistae, Heavy Artillery 2 should suffice. Another important item to have is a Fireproof Mantle to survive damaging the cores. Most of the damage done to this boss will come from the cannons, so don't fret if you are dealing low dps when on top of it. Failing to destroy the cores in time will result in the boss erupting and dealing heavy damage. After destroying two cores while riding it, you will need to repel a Nergigante atop of it, so come prepared to take on that fight too. Ensure there is always someone prepared with either a binder or dragonator to counter Zorah's formidable magma attack. The Handler will provide a warning in advance, indicating Zorah's energy charge, or you may notice the looming fiery glow emanating from its mouth. Remember to grab a binder from the ship and use the dragonator when Zorah Magdaros gets into range. Whittle its health down with the cannons and ballistae, and alternate between them as their respective ammunitions deplete, ammo in the ship will respawn. You should be able to finish the fight after this, if you reach the cooldown refresh of the weapon don't forget to reuse the dragonator.

This guy is honestly one if my favorite monsters and of elder dragons its in my top 6. Fights uniqe and I personally enjoy it. Wish we could have learned the story of it. Because to become that big you have to be hundreds if not thousands of years old. He is in the top 3 largest monsters in the series

Wow, this "thing" is just so big. How can u beat that with just mini guns and canons, this really makes no sense
- Anonymous
i still don't understand why they thought they could stop him with the tiny wooden barricades they built. in the game they worked, but the should've made a better looking barricade with some stone built in.
it would make more sense and just look cooler

To answer the comment under me, the optional quest is a limited time quest meaning you can only do it a few times before it disappears, however, the event version should always be available as far as I know.

The should catch nerg, not this mountain. As if they could bring it home. They definitely had the weapons and hunters to obliterate nerg and get him.

You can ignore Nergigante in the second fight. Just keep hitting the cores.

Imagine this fight if Zorah wasn't on the verge of death...

Does anyone else prefer the first zorah siege compared to the second one? I liked the first siege more just because you had such a good camera point on zorah during the beginning, that and the lighting of the area just seemed to glorify Zorah even more. Although I wish they made you fight nergigante for a bit longer then they made you.

trivia: Zorah possess not four but SIX limbs. two additional wing-like arms are on it's back and hold it's shell in place, there's official art from it's design chart displaying it, and you can even see them in-game when using binders and look carefully at it's back beneath the shell

Second Zorah fight in a nutshell. Commander: how many times do we gotta teach ya this lesson old man! Zorah: I like the young people

Why is Zorah so different from the other Elder Dragons? Or rather, why are other Elder Dragons so different from Zorah? Pretty much all other Elder Dragons with the exception of Kirin are quadruped, two winged and overall dragon-like, and all of them pretty much behave like regular monsters in how they are fought. Gargantuan, turtle-like Zorah sticks out in scale, scope and power. So awesome is he, that you can not even fight him on a normal level. You have to bombard him with cannons and screw him with a ship, and even that is a mere fleshwound to him. When you fight Zorah, you're not a hunter. You're a pesky mosquito. It honestly makes all other Elder Dragons you fight a bit disappointing in my opinion. The fights are tough, sure, but none of them make you feel as insignificant as Zorah... I want my Elder Dragons less Dark Souls and more Shadow of the Colossus...

I saw one guy with 14 shiny item pickup in a session. Any idea where to get these? I know they sometime spawn on the ground once you break the cores and fight Nerg but I never find more than 10.

Was there anyone who ever played this game who thought "You know, they might have a shot at catching this guy"?
- Anonymous
Whoever put the Ridge part as being common, slap yourself. It's a rare part.

Out of all the elder dragons, you think this is the one that'll be capable of catching? Where the hell are you even gonna keep that thing?!?!

I like how they try to stop him just with the wooden barrier lol

Hmmm...we should capture elder dragon for research...we never caught one ever... should we start with the small ones like nerg, teostra, Val hazaak....etc...or the biggest one we can find. One that's bigger than our own base. Let's do the biggest. Logic...

Need explanations on how to break the chest. I heard people were running up the arms to attack the chest when he is near the barricade. I also hear you can jump on the head after he head butts barricade then wait for him to return to normal position and attack the tip of the nose supposedly?
- Anonymous
In the repeating quest can you break the magma core on it's head? I never can seem to pull it off.
- Anonymous
Magdaros does return as a random limited optional quest from time to time. Zorah is fought in stages. First one you are climbing around its back and trying to take down magma cores. Usuallly Nergigant also shows up to harass hunters on his back. During the second stage you're defending the barrier with ballistae and cannons, so here skills like Heavy Artillery and Pro Transporter er very useful.

this wiki is awful, it tells you next to nothing about everything and to make it worse it's confusing. SO what it does tell you is practically useless
