Paolumu is a Large Monster in Monster Hunter World (MHW). パオウルムー (浮空竜) in Japanese. Recognized for its ballooning, inflatable neck sac, Paolumu is an endearing herbivore with a deceptive level of agility. Despite its seemingly docile nature, Paolumu can become a formidable opponent when threatened, using its inflated sac to reach impressive heights and unleash powerful air-based attacks. Encounters with Paolumu are marked by its distinctive appearance and the challenge of predicting its aerial movements.
Paolumu feast on eggs found in the Coral Highlands. They are able to propel through the air using unique sacs in their bodies, and attack with their extremely hard tails.

- Inflated Charge: Paolumu inflates its neck sac and charges at hunters with surprising speed. Evading or blocking effectively is crucial to avoid getting hit by this charging attack.
- Airborne Spin: Paolumu takes to the air and performs a spinning attack, creating a gust of wind. Evading or finding cover is essential to avoid getting hit by this aerial assault.
- Airborne Dive: Paolumu leaps into the air and performs a diving attack, attempting to land on hunters. Evading to the side or using terrain strategically is necessary to avoid getting hit by this aerial assault.

fun facts
- without it wings it looks like a rolling balloon
- if its 1429 centimeters then its eyes are roughly 1/18th of that size, which compared to the size of the eye to the human body is nearly 3.7 times as big. my math is not 100% accurate so no judge
- it's leathery tail has the same consistency as barroth's skin
- without the wing membranes it looks like a gecko crossed with a ratbeaver that has overgrown legs and needs a diet.

No, this hellspawn is not cute, it's ugly as sin and it's dumb as hell, what's with the jap that created it? I'm cool with all the other creatures in Monster Hunter World, they all range from okay to "OMG THIS **** IS F***ING AWESOME!!!" but Paolumu is absolutely stupid looking in every single way possible, not only the monster but the weapons, even the armor. The only use this thing has is as shooting practice target and even so, you got better targets.

This is a white floofy bat with a built in neck pillow. In my opinion it is cute but I hate it's roar, it sounds like it's screaming and gurgling water at the same time.

Its cute c: Actual advice: This thing is a cinch with a heavy bowgun
- Anonymous
Cutest thing ever when it's sleeping. It almost makes me not want to put a pair of barrel bombs on its head.

This entire comment section is pretty much a war on whether the Paolumu is a cute fluffball or a hideous eyesore

i farmed 22 hr paolumu just to have to find another armour set that was better and then had to farm that monster

I hate this thing and it's subspecies with a burning passion. Of every monster introduced in this game, this is by far the worst, and you will never be able to convince me otherwise. The only monster in the game worse than it, is Kushala.

It inflates itself, blows you, and tries to sit on you. You can't tell me this isn't someone's fetish monster lol
- Anonymous
Can someone add that neck/head cannot accumulate break damage or break unless inflated?

It's so cute! It's like an albino bat, which are just sky puppies, so not liking paolumu is like not liking puppies. There. I said it.

Id like to see a subspecies where the paolumu wandered in to the Rotten Vale. It fed on girros, giving it's new static fur paralyzing abilities when enraged, and blows effluvium which can increase effluvial buildup, and may cause miasma. It's fur can suddenly become shocked, in which anything that makes physical contact with it (besides attacks) gets paralyzed (on occasion). It wanders in the higher areas of the Rotten Vale. I call it the "Effluval Paolumu" (creative, right? *sarcasm*).

So I don't understand how this floats... It sucks in atmospheric air and that somehow makes it more buoyant versus atmospheric air... Wouldn't it need a massive heat source to make that work, something that outputs the heat of large campfire or something?
- Anonymous
It's nice that you can stand next to it because it doesn't become hostile unless you attack it. But it doesn't inflate itself unless it becomes hostile so there isn't as much of a reason to stand next to it.

Why does it only have 4 weapon lines? This goes for many other monsters, too. each should have one fore half of the weapons.
- Anonymous
Seriously, how mach HP does this monster has? I fought it so hard but couldn't kill it and it left at the end ... I also tried to capture it when it had this death skull showing up but it didn't work ...
Just got an Odogaron to kill a Paolumu for me, it was quick and worth the sight, the Paolumu couldn’t even resist, it was always getting trashed around by the Odogaron.

not hostile for me unless you attack. love standing right next to it to look at that cute face lol

anybody realize it has almost the same AI as pukei-pukei when it's on the ground?

The only reason to hunt this monster is to run around in cool fashion

Time dodges correctly and it should be easy, it runs alot. Crowd control is effective. (Flash pods, shock / pit trap. Carved a wyvern gem off a high rank one
